My husband and I ate here for Valentines Day. They offered a set menu for $75 pp or the regular menu. Was nice not to be limited. This was my 3rd time here, my husband's first. The portions are generous, the food is delicious. It...is not a large menu but a good one and changes seasonally. The wait staff was great and the manager came over and suggested good pairings for our dessert. We ended up with a very fine grappa after sharing a bottle of wine with our meal. Absolutely a gem!More

Excellent Italian food. The flatbreads are great. The eggplant appetizer was fantastic. The tonnarelli pasta comes in the wheel of Romano cheese is fantastic. The lamb ragu pasta is excellent. Nice restaurant. A little tight, but cozy. Good service. I will definitely go back.

Bocca is an intimate Italian restaurant tucked away on E 19th. Be sure to try the house-made tonnarelli with cacio and pepe, prepared tableside. The fresh burrata was scrumptious as was the lovely panna cotta (seemingly made the old fashioned way without gelatin?) Lovely place...for dinner as a solo diner or on a date or for a family night out. Promise you will not be disappointed. Be sure to try the house specialty cocktails. I had the Mexicano with regular tequila (rather than the jalapeno tequila) and the passion fruit puree made for a lovely drink.More

My daughter selected this restaurant for one of our restaurant weeks meals. It was hard to get someones/anyones attention to inform them that we were all there. We were finally seated at a nicely located table, but the chairs were quite uncomfortable. The manager was...very attentive and helpful which was good since our waiter was not. A little chip on his shoulders and an attitude towards us, but we could not figure out why. Only 2 of us selected the restaurant week menu because nothing on it was enticing enough to order. The eggplant caponata was good and so was the Tonarelli Cacio e Pepe. Dessert was a miss for my dessert obsessed family. Cocktails and wine selection was very good, albeit expensive. We are not going to be repeat customers, but it did receive mostly good ratings so we tried it once. It was also extremely loud in the small space and therefore not conducive to my family catching up over a meal.More

Was recommended by our son to go here and it didn’t disappoint. From the lovely Prosecco, the amazing calamari, incredible pasta, beautiful tiramisu and limoncello we were very well fed and looked after. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to New York.

I was here to have dinner with friends. It was a great experience from having a drink at the bar to the dining experience at the table. Food was really good. I had the crab cake and the spaghetti with clams followed by a panna...cotta with pineapple. Utterly delicious! The service was lovely and professional! High recommended.More

I do not often give 5 stars but I did so because the staff were so kind and really made this place feel like a NYC neighborhood restaurant. It did not hurt that the food was quality. They made their own version of select cocktails.

We met at Bocca for our bird kickoff dinner. The atmosphere was definitely active for a Tuesday night. Some notes: The portions are on the smaller side for italian bistro. Food quality and taste was on point. Service had a few miscues with orders, hence...the 4. I would give a 4.5, because we were a big group. A bit noisy and cozy to have a business meeting there, but we made it work. The veal meatballs were out of this world. The caccio Pepe was awesome- they mixed it in a cheese bowl at the table The espresso cake was very good as well.More

BEWARE, this restaurant has RACIST management, poor customer service, and subpar Italian food. I never expected to write a review about experiencing racism in a New York City restaurant of all the places in the world. But alas, here I am writing one about this...absolutely terrible establishment that has now made me and those that were with me there yesterday feel a little sadder, fearful and angry all at once that this kind of restaurant management could exist. Last night, my husband and I arrived on time for a reservation for 3. Our friend showed up 40 minutes late because he was stuck in traffic. The bad service started from the beginning where we had numerous waiters attend to us so we could not figure out who to ask questions of. They removed a part of our table because they wanted to use it for another party - which we happily obliged to - and left a chair for our friend at our tiny 2 person table. All this time there were still other open tables. We proceeded to order a bottle of wine and two appetizers while we waited...in this time numerous waiters kept coming to our table to ask if they could take the chair away, removed plates while we were still finishing up the appetizers, and when we saved a few bits for our friend tried to take that away as well. The main waiter even finally stepped in and stopped another from trying to take the leftover food away. My friend arrived and this pattern of bad service continued through our main course. When it came to the check, my husband and I agreed that this was not worthy of the normal 20-25% tip we'd like to give so we chose to give much less because of the experience. I would like to point out that would the food just have been bad but the service was decent, I am not the kind of person to ever tip below 20%. This was an extremely bad case of service...I promise I myself am generally in the tipping police making sure I and those around me tip well...but this was a case anyone would have been disappointed. Here is where the appalling events unravel and it is all centered around this absolutely RACIST man / manager, Nicolo' Di Stefano. He approaches our table and says he wants to understand why we tipped that way and continues to say things like you know how little waiters make and how poor they are and ends it with "I would like to understand why YOUR PEOPLE tip this way". At this point, I stopped him and let him know that not only was he being incredibly rude and not respecting our tip but also INCREDIBLY discriminatory. He continued to say he wasn't racist but thought we could be better people and that he didn't understand why my people were like this. As we got up to leave, the table next to us looked at us and said 'I'm so sorry you just had to go through that, that was horrible". As we headed out the door a WAITER APOLOGIZED to us for his manager's behavior. BEWARE fellow foodie community. Read reviews and don't just go by the aggregate star ratings. Buried in the reviews of individuals I found many poor reviews of the this restaurant's management, MULTIPLE cases of the staff attacking patrons who they didn't feel like tipped them enough, or rushing people out of their dinner like we experience. This kind of establishment and management should not exist this day and age let alone in such a wonderful, diverse, and inclusive city like NYC.More
