We came to Hop Lee visiting New York's China Town for the first time. We looked at many places to eat and we decided to come to Hop Lee to eat. There looked to be a big group event of people all dressed in black. We waited for a long time before meeting an elderly women. She explained to my... More

Many restaurants in China Town , however, we chose this one as our son is called Lee! Didn't regret our choice. Staff very friendly and helpful, large and tasty portions and very reasonabally priced

This small downstairs restaurant was as good of experience as one could expect. Waiters were very attentive, portions were large and food was tasty. Our party of five ordered two meat dishes, fried rice and appetizer. Bill was about $10 each. I'd go back.

I take high school youth to eat here. The manager and staff are gracious and seat our group even though the dining room is small and we are taking space from regulars. I try to go early so to not disrupt. The food is served family style so our tables, always at least 8 people, get a good sample of... More

Old school Cantonese-American is dead: and the wor shu opp proves it; instead of duck that is boneless, has fragrant meat, a very crispy almond coated skin and an American infuenced brown gravy - I wound up with bland, chewy rubbery something with some salty brown sauce. I have a feeling they threw in ice cold & pre-cooked duck into... More

We tried the Peking Duck. The skin was good, the sauce authentic, the rest didn't look good and was far away from the original. Chinese buns instead of thin Chinese wrap was the strangest part of it. The Hot&Sour soup was ok-ish. Don't touch the fried wantons. Not worth it.

Found good reviews on Trip Advisor so decided to stop in for lunch while visiting ChinaTown around Christmas. Small place with great food and great service - staff was very friendly. I really like Chinese food and try to visit ChinaTown in every major city. This was not a disappointment. Very reasonably priced even with a bottle of wine. Excellent... More

You come to his place of one thing and one thing only -- Great traditional Cantonese food. Be it banquet style of with a couple of close friends. The food is consistently fresh, masterfully prepared with all the subtle flavors of Cantonese cuisine. We've been coming here for years, if not more than a decade and it never disappoints. My... Authentic Cantonese cooking for my Chinese family. Once again, we had the banquet here after a family funeral, and Hop Lee never disappoints. Ten course dinner banquet included Jellyfish salad, roasted pork, succulent steak with vegetable, honey roasted chicken, shark fin soup (sans shark fin-now called seafood soup or something else innocuous), fried fish, shrimp with candied walnuts and broccoli,... Staying in Chinatown

Neighborhood Profile
Chinatown
Bursting with an amazing array of sights, sounds, and smells on every block, a visit to Chinatown feels like entering a different world. It’s a colorful spectacle that gets even more crowded on weekends, when families stream in to enjoy huge dim sum feasts and to stock up at the markets on Mott Street. To take a break from the buzz, grab something sweet from one of the many bakeries in the area and head to Columbus Park, where many Chinatown residents exercise, play games, and chat the day away.
