We travel to NYV frequently for business and pleasure. We ALWAYS dine at Benoit while there. Authentic French food and atmosphere.

Alain Ducasse, the noted French chef, has finally created a successful restaurant in NYC. Menuwise it is an imitation of his Parisian restaurant of the same name and the quality of food is similar. If you are interested in a reasonable French restaurant, this is the place for you.

Excellent service, diverse menu, terrific food, excellent wine list to include by-the-glass. Hostess and entire staff most helpful and courteous. Charcuterie first class. Only negative is that much of the seating is the crowded banquette variety, much too close to other diners. Otherwise, superb, and am looking forward to my next time there. Added bonus: the waiter did NOT say... More

On a rainy night in NYC, Benoit was the perfect place for a cozy dinner. We wanted classic French fare and that is what we got. Perfect Steak Au Poivre and haricots verts, excellent red wine by the glass and the atmosphere is perfectly New Yorky. (The lights could be a little lower, if you ask me) Other than that... More

From the French host, to the bistro decor, to the menu, you really feel like you walked from a NYC street right into a Parisian Bistro. We happened upon this restaurant with the help of open table. We were looking for a restaurant close to the Warwick Hotel where we were staying. We had a relatively early reservation so the... More

Benoit, which took the place of Cote Basque several years ago, serves excellent food in the same beautiful setting. My wife and I travel to NYC twice each year, and we make Benoit our kind of special night each visit. My wife and I both started with the escargots, which were perfect. For her main course, my wife had the... More

Lovely ambiance and warm welcome. Unfortunately, the food and prices don't correspond to the surroundings. The pre-dinner champagne was $25/glass. A 3-glass carafe of average house wine was $57. The hors d'oeuvre serving of octopus was microscopic and the escargots were lackluster and seeming reheated and tepid. The King salmon entree was also tiny and seemingly cut out with a... More

Face it. You hear Alain Ducasse and you think no way I can do there by myself much less to take my wife and kids! I'll go broke! Not true! Of course, you are welcome to do so. Here is how: go at peak hours, order lots of drinks, and order the most expensive dishes. And YOU'LL BE IN HEAVEN!!... More

I dined at Benoit with my partner for our two year anniversary. I love that they offer carafes of wines. We shared a carafe of riesling and it deliciously complimented our meal. We started with escargot, which was delicious. I had the fish special and my partner had the grilled salmon. Both were great. We really enjoyed the ambience as... More

Absolutely glad I tried Benoit after my visit to MOMA. Nice atmosphere & attentive service at lunch even to those who dine solo. Perfection. Escargot are delicious with herbs, garlic & butter. Never had any better. Opted for rack of lamb and it was superb with seasonal vegetables. Wine parings were lovely. Too full for dessert but will return. Viva... More

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
