You'll need a reservation or at least call in to let them know you're coming. This place is high end and a big deal. So def plan before going. You will impress whoever you go with though. Great spot.

When you enter the restaurant there is a noisy surprise :) We like the chicken buns! The ramen was ok also... but can be better The restaurant has no clear sign in the entrance, its a red japanese sign.

Brought my bestie here and it was her first experience eating ramen and she enjoyed it! Very busy and the restaurant was fairly loud but the broth brought music to my ears. Had the salad and also shared the toast dessert.

This was such an eclectic little place! Asians in the background making pork sticky buns and bowls of ramen, and Scots (I think?) on the floor serving everyone. They were shouting things back and forth in a mix of languages that was impossible to decipher but the energy in here was positively fun. Go see it!!!

Great atmosphere, amazing food.. Especially the buns and the karakte man.. Absolutely delicious. The wait worth it.. I came alone around 7 and i needed to wait about 20-25 minutes, but it was worth it

Went solo after a business trip on a Saturday around 8PM and was quoted a wait of 35-40 minutes. There is a small bar in the waiting area which is great to pass the time with, but almost as soon as I ordered a cold Asahi my name was called, with a total wait time of about 15 minutes. Such... More

Hands down the best ramen in NYC when you're looking for that silky porky tonkotsu broth. Get the Akamaru modern with the recommended toppings. Also, get the pork buns, chicken buns, and chicken wings. Have some sake & sapporo and you're set. Head to Decibel afterwards for more sake. Just do it..

Thank Michael H

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
