Hands down the best ramen in NYC when you're looking for that silky porky tonkotsu broth. Get the Akamaru modern with the recommended toppings. Also, get the pork buns, chicken buns, and chicken wings. Have some sake & sapporo and you're set. Head to Decibel afterwards for more sake. Just do it..

Not knowing much about authentic ramen, we took the server's advice and were thrilled with the selections. We also had both the pork and chicken buns for an appetizer and they were absolutely mouth-watering. Price was reasonable for how much we were served. Soooo good!

We went in early at about 5pm to avoid the legendary wait. Even so there were only a couple of tables available. The service was very quick and efficient. What really matter is the food and that was just fabulous. Every item we ordered was lip smacking and really flavourful. And, relative to New York, the tab was reasonable. It's... More

People say that Ippudo is the best ramen in NYC, and they may be right. A branch of a famous Japanese chain, the food was delicious, ambiance lively, service upbeat. I ordered the tonkotsu ramen and it was delicious - rich creamy broth, noodles done just right. Kaedama (extra noodles) for $2.00. Also ordered the pork buns which were also... More

This is the second time I have been here and I chose to come on Monday instead of the weekend to not wait too much time to get a table. The ramen are simply tasty and delicious, stay on the classic one is you don't stand spicy. The ambient is easy and nice, staff is pretty kind and you will... More

I did not find that this ramen restaurant lived up to its hype. My husband, daughter and I each had a ramen and our noodles were very, very tough. Also, my pork belly was overcooked and very bland. The broths, however, were out of this world! I was not worth the price or the wait. I prefer Mitsuwa (in Edgewater)... More

Consistency and yummy are the two words to summarize Ippudo. I don't live in NYC, but every time I go to the city I go there, since 2008. Ramen keeps the good texture, misso broth is still very tasty, buns are delicious as appetizers. I always faced lines no matter the hour of the day, but they are bearable. One... More

Amazing ramen in a fun, electric atmosphere, pretty inexpensive, but you'll probably have to wait (no reservations). Try the buns as well - perfect with a kick.

This place is totally awesome! I was here on a Monday evening and decided to reach a little late by 9 pm. But guess what there was still waiting and it took about 10 mins for them to let me in. No problem though because i hear the lines can be long and it can take close to 30-40 mins... More

A cool and busy restaurant where you can enjoy delicious ramen and other Japanese dishes. I will especially recommend their signature dish. The service is really good and there is a busy but nice and funny atmosphere in the small restaurant. Take in mind that you might have to wait 30-60 minutes to get a seat on evenings (and it... Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
