Even if you have to wait too much, ippudo is a security: fantastic ramen in several ways. Simple location, good service and greay food. You gotta go

The pork buns were delish but didn't beat out Momofuku's buns. The ramen is unique very light and flavourful with thin noodles unlike other bone based ramens that are thick noodles and very rich in taste. My favourite is still in Toronto.

This is an excellent spot for ramen! The line was out the door at open which is an indicator to me that it was worth a stop. There is common seating and private seating. We sat at common seating and was not at all as awkward as one would think. The kitchen is open so you can watch the chefs... More

As a single, getting a seat at the communal table was quick and easy, the Ramen good and space quite nice.

This ramen institution still has a 1.5 hour wait for a table even more than 5 years after opening at the Astor Place location. This is a chain from Japan, but is thoroughly authentic as far as ambiance, décor and cuisine. The tiny bar and super crowded waiting area is a horrible frustration. Knowing that there is always an excessive... More

A cool Japanese restaurant specialized in ramen and fusion recipes. It is a very cool design place, staff is very kind, service fast as well. I tried the a tuna tartare and a vegetarian ramen soup both super delicious. They offer many kind of ramen, perhaps I missed a seafood ramen option, but overall I was very happy and I... More

we waited 1 hr 15 minutes for a table, which actually exceeded our expectations since we were told the wait would be closer to 1 45. Ordered pork buns at the bar - they were very good. We sat, and ordered more pork buns, some other appetizers, and the classic soup. It was all good. But quite frankly can't figure... More

It's my third time in this place and always it makes me happy. The buns with pork are amazing and the Ramans are very good - especially on a called day.

Staying in East Village

Neighborhood Profile
East Village
There’s still an independent vibe to the East Village, which offers plenty of unique small businesses catering to longtime New Yorkers and area college students alike. The East Village retains a bit of the old-time neighborhood feel that you can still experience today thanks to a mix of locally-owned shops, cozy restaurants, and lively bars. The scale of the residential blocks makes this a wonderful place to wander up and down the streets searching for the newest hip spot, or an old-school favorite. In the center of the neighborhood, Tompkins Square Park serves as a gathering point for the New Yorkers that call the East Village home. The people-watching here is hard to beat.
