Late Night Jazz, No Cover, Pricey Drinks

Cool art deco bar to hear live jazz. With the all wood decor, lighting, and style of music, it's a throwback place to the 40s or 50s, even though you're not far from gaudy, garish Times Square. Until you get your drink bill. $15.00 for a glass of average wine is pretty high. You can also buy... read more

This was a fun spot located adjacent to the Edison hotel near Times Square. We went in looking for a place to talk and enjoy a drink after dinner. The staff was friendly and accommodating. A small jazz band arrived after 9 pm and set up to play. We really enjoyed the music and drinks. They have live entertainment most... More

I didn't eat here, just enjoyed an amazing Dark & Stormy. It's a cozy place, with a sort of dark/warm old school feel. Perfect place for a drink before a show, especially if you want something that doesn't feel too busy/Times Square-like.

I would thoroughly recommend this cosy, candlelit bar in Times Square. It feels very different to a lot of the other more touristy bars in the area. It has a great atmosphere - it feels a bit like an old fashioned speakeasy, or like a gentleman's club in the 20's! Cocktails aren't cheap, but are well worth the money. Between... More

We spent an evening here due to being snowed in- it was cozy- small with lots of dark wood and candles. The prices run about $13-18 per drink- but they are very strong. Most nights they have live music. There are appetizer foods available as well. Enjoyed ourselves and definitely felt the prices were fair considering the quality and the... More

A very "Buzzy" place! So if you want quiet time? It's not for you! The staff are friendly and happy to talk to you even though they are run off their feet! A great place to finish the day!

When we are staying in the theater district, we always try to go to the Rum House for drinks at night. It's next to the Edison Hotel. It's cosy, with classic dark wood paneling ,attentive waitress service, and they have a great selection of musicians playing. While drinks are a little pricey, it's worth it just to have a comfortable... More

A nice cosy bar that is really handy if you are staying at the Edison Hotel ( at the bottom of the lifts ) or handy if your in Times Square or Broadway . Very friendly bar staff and a mix of New Yorkrers and tourists. We were there Jan 2016 and perhaps I am a bit tight but I... More

Being HUGE fans of Bird Man we had to visit this place (where the bar scenes with Michael Keaton and Edward Norton were filmed). Amazing 40s style New York bar with an amazing atmosphere, amazing rum selection, great cocktails and perfect location! One of the highlights of our trip. Would love to come back :)

Staying in Midtown

Neighborhood Profile
Midtown
This is the iconic New York that so many visitors imagine before they visit - spectacular skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building and Empire State Building, iconic public buildings like Grand Central Terminal and the New York Public Library, and the non-stop hustle and bustle of the city streets. Fifth Avenue is a shopper's paradise where you can find every kind of store imaginable, with fashion brands ranging from the affordable to the ultra-fancy. Visit Rockefeller Center to experience towering Art Deco grandeur, and foodies will love the busy restaurants that stay open late in Koreatown. After dark, Midtown calms down a bit, but at any time of day or night it still feels 100% New York.
