This was our mainstay when we didn't plan other dinners, and our Thanksgiving dinner. Great meals. When I went with the less adventurous, there was plenty of American style Chinese. But most of the patrons we saw were Asian. The soups were great. I note...some of the other reviews note that it was expensive. I beg to differ. They just didn't understand that this place is family style eating. Not everybody orders a platter. You order like one soup for the table, and a few platters and everyone shares. And that was without stuffing you with rice filler that most commercial Chinese restaurants do. I saw some tables had rice, but we never bothered. As such, for the best meals we had in New York City were here. And yes, on the last day we broke down and had the Peking Duck. They always made sure you had plenty of tea at the table.More

Just left the restaurant after having a meal with 5 other friends. Worst Chinese food I've ever had, rushed throughout the entire meal, sizzling beef wasn't sizzling, spring rolls were greasy.

Amazing 66 Chinese restaurant We wanted to try an authentic Chinese restaurant in China Town and noticed that this place had a lot of Oriental people. The food turned out to be very good indeed, but it is a different culture. No cozy lighting, but...very bright light. A can of coke on the table with only a straw, no glass, and your waiter chewing and smoking and having his dinner in the back of the restaurant while you are still eating. The toilet is also not very appealing if you are a clean freak. But that was expected. Back to the food; We decided to pass o the Crispy intestine and Crispy Duck tongue , but the quail eggs in bacon were very good, as was the quail in honey BBQ sauce. My daughter had the Lobster and that was also very good. My roasted duck was very well prepared and juicy. Recommended. Not too expensive either $ 180 for 4 people.More

The place was packed so our expectations were high. Didn't like the spring rolls - seemed greasy. The other choices - sweet & sour chicken and General Tso's were fine. I think it works better here if you have a big table and can share...many options.More

I have eaten at Amazing at least 100 times ! It is my favorite Chinese Restaurant in Chinatown. I know there are larger, smaller, more exotic, and more famous spots, but this is "my" place! The wait staff is very kind. They know what I...want before I do! The place is well decorated and clean. I love the Peking pork chops, the tofu variations, the string beans, the orange chicken, the frogs tongues, the ribs. And of course the fabulous Peking Duck specialty. Just about everything on the Cantonese menu.More

Having a hankering for some peking duck whilst in Chinatown, we read lots of reviews and settled on this restaurant. It was absolutely heaving and aside from us, literally full of Chinese diners so we knew it was going to be good food. The individual...dishes were quite expensive but they are very big portions. The only disappointment for me was that they only sell whole peking ducks which is fine for a table of people but not so good for two of us. Aside from that, the food was of a really high standard with lots of interesting choices.More

There are better places to eat in NYC Chinatown, but we had an OK meal, reasonable prices, not great service. I think tourists would be happy here, but my Chinese family was very hard in their analysis of the place. And my Uncle, who ordering...in Chinese, and worked in restaurants many years sent two dishes back because the kitchen messed up the order. One of the tastiest items was the fried shrimp with broccoli and candied walnuts. Also the dried tofu stuffed with mushroom and vegetable was awesome and hubby enjoyed the "Orange Pork" (like orange chicken, only pork.) I think that many would like the shrimp stuffed tofu. There was also fuzzy melon soup, Chilean sea bass, Jellyfish salad, and pork patties (very fatty).More

where to choose to eat?? I always go where the locals eat personally. I know in New York China Town that might seem funny- but we stopped here and couldn't see one person that wasn't Chinese. Therefore, we chose to eat here. it was extremely...busy and there must have been a party on as we had to wait a little while. still we acquired a table eventually and proceeded to order. Ribs in sauce, beef with scallions sweet and sour chicken, a pork dish and rice- oh and spring rolls to start, soup. The food was absolutely delicious and should have known - big portions! Probably one of the nicest Chinese meals I've had. Prices are reasonable as well , so I thoroughly recommend this restaurant.More

We wanted a restaurant that didn't look touristy and had a good proportion of Asian people eating there. We came upon Amazing 66—bright, relatively plain, attractive—with immediate seating for out group of four, ranging in age from 10 to 75. The menu is HUGE, and...in the spirit of participatory dining, everyone got a choice. the winners of the evening were the appetizers of Crispy Silver Fish (2" fish in a delicious batter) and Honey BBQ Quail, crisp and flavorful, but not for those who don't want to pick up the tiny pieces to chew off the tasty meat. (Although we are not challenged by chopsticks, we found it much easier to consider them finger food rather than tackle them wholly by chopsticks.) The Steamed Grass Carp was delicate and delicious, although there were dark portions we weren't familiar with. Chicken and vegetables made for comfort food. The portions were good sized, easily shared, and the prices seemed very reasonable, especially in light of the tastiness and the fun of trying something new.More
