We had a nice meal here. We wanted to dine on the patio but it was closed due to a lack of staff. Service was friendly and efficient. The restaurant is casual and to food food. We had the fajitas salad and the (tuna) special....Both were well prepared. Certainly a good restaurant for a casual meal, a bit on the pricey side.More

The food was OK. I’m used to chips and salsa being a standard offering at Mexican restaurants but here you pay $8-$12 for “handmaid chips” (aren’t all restaurant tortilla chips handmade?) but these chips were different— they taste heavily of flour and are unusually thick,...which was a little strange. They taste more like pita chips than traditional tortilla chips. I got fish street tacos. The amount of fish on each taco was quite stingy. I also ordered the “perfect margarita” which was OK. I could taste the liquor in it and that was not great. The cocktail mix didn’t taste super fresh so I’m assuming it is not made to order fresh, so $13 is a lot for this marg. I also sampled the ultimate, which, for $1 more was noticeably better, and worth the extra $1. Two people ate: chips, queso, salsa, we each had one margarita, and each of us ordered street tacos and with tip our meal totaled about $85, which is a lot for cheap Mexican food. The street tacos come with rice and beans, which as others have commented, are somewhat bland. The rice was also crunchy, which can be a dental hazard. Highlight of meal: top shelf/ultimate margarita Downside: price, numerous flies we had to shoo away from our plates even tho were seated indoors, crunchy/hard rice. Take away: If you’re vacationing in the Outer Banks, you can skip this one.More

I had the crab mac and cheese and there was hardly any crab in the dish at all. It was more like a bowl of boxed mac and cheese. Very disappointing! My husband had the chicken quesadilla and said it was good. Our server was...awful. I saw her hold the tea pitcher by the top rim instead of the handle. Gross! She hardly spoke to us and then tossed the receipt in a holder right at my husband! Not impressed!More

This restaurant was recommended to us by a local, and we just couldn’t resist checking them out. We had everything from Burgers to Mahi Tacos and Mojitos to Margaritas and everything was excellent, even the fries. Kayd was a phenomenal server and made our visit...even more special. We will definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends and will return when we come back.More

I had the grilled fajita salad and my husband had the fish tacos. Both were quite tasty. The portions are large but the prices reflect that. Not crazy expensive but pricier than you might expect. If you aren't super hungry, splitting a meal could be...an option. Convenient to walk to in the village.More

My friend lived in Manteo briefly and said to go to Ortega’z. I had the fresh catch tuna steak. It was served with grilled veggies and mashed potatoes. My hubby had the carne asada tacos. To drink, he had the perfect margarita and I had...the Roanoke Island Mule with Kill Devil Pecan Rum. So good!More

The chips are unique, puffy and crisp. Atmosphere is kind of funky and relaxing. Portions are huge. Yummy!

We had dinner here on our final evening in Manteo. I decided to have a Cobb salad with a Mule in a copper mug for dinner. Delicious and refreshing and the perfect way to end the day!

Fresh and delicious! Recommend the fresh fish tacos and wasabi shrimp tacos. Chips were awesome. Loved the margaritas. Great food. Great service. Highly recommend. They accommodated our group of 9 well

Didn’t know what to expect. It was recommended by the visitor center and was on food network some time ago. Well made dishes. Not really authentic but very good. We were there in off season middle of the day and service and food was excellent....Reasonable portions and price.More
