My wife and I had a very enjoyable late breakfast/early lunch. My wife enjoyed her chicken sandwich and I thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast bowl which included scrambled eggs and pieces of steak. Very tasty!! We shared a crumb apple pie which was really good. Our Bloody Mary's were yum as well!!

I've been going to Striper's since 2014 whenever I am in the Outer Banks whether on vacation or weekend trips. The food is always fantastic, and the service is just as good! The staff has always been very friendly and professional, and the bartenders and wait staff are really fast and good at what they do. I love the variety of food that they have, and with the new manager they have now, I've noticed all kinds of really good food and drink specials. I also love the view of the sound and boats going by. Anyway, you'll love this place and I'm sure that this will be your new favorite Outer Banks restaurant to visit everytime you're in town.

We came into to Stripers tonight. They were extremely busy due to the holiday and a lot of other restaurants in Manteo are closed. The bartenders were both so nice and accommodating. They not only tended the bar but as soon as a table came available they sat us right away. The food was outstanding and service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

To say that the food was terrible would be an understatement. Son’s chicken sandwich was dry and the fries were over cooked in old oil. Husband had the fried chicken dinner. It was swimming in gravy and the mashed potatoes were unrecognizable. I had the Shrimp Alfredo. The shrimp was over cooked. The sauce consisted of cream poured over shredded cheese. No flavor. We all came home and spent the night on the sofa sick to our stomachs. I didn’t mention anything to the staff— waitress had the personality of a wet rag and couldn’t care less. The kitchen staff should be ashamed. They know the food is disgusting and serve it regardless. No pride in that place. Will never return.

First visit to Stripers Bar and Grill. While waiting for our table we were accosted by the town drunk trying to first bum a cigarette then pick a fight. He totally scared the women in our party. We thought about leaving but hung in because we were hungry and we wanted to try the restaurant. Hmm prob should have gone with our first instinct to leave. We were seated and ordered pasta Alfredo with shrimp (good) and Bronze Salmon medium cooked and specifically told the very good waitress I do not like raw salmon. Salmon arrived warm but raw in the center. I sent the salmon back to the kitchen and it returned no different still raw. This was unfortunate because the salmon could have been a wonderful meal if cooked correctly. Both entrees were large and nicely placed on the plates. Drinks were fine, waitress was hustling. We had a chat with the on duty manager and she graciously comped our meal and drinks which we appreciated. I strongly urged her to address the problematic drunk who harasses the customers with sweaty drunkenness. This drunk is a huge legal LIABILITY especially during Covid-19 restrictions. Please address promptly.

The view was good, service was average and food may have been the worst I have ever had. Spouse ordered a monte cristo and it was served soggy, soaking wet. Not even close to anything which should have been served. I ordered a fish rueben and I am sure it was a frozen piece of fish straight out of the frozen foods section at your local grocery store. It had absolutely no flavor as they forget to put any condiments on it. Fries were served cold . Overpriced for the low quality food we received.

Ordered takeout. Both women working the stand were somewhat rude. The flounder bites were overcooked, my son’s order was wrong and the lobster bisque was cold, as if it was barely heated up. Not sure what happened in the year since we were here, but none of our meals were worth what we paid.

Arrived at 4:15 went to second floor to seat ourselves per sign advised. Waitress did not greet us, only asked what we wanted to drink (mumbled that) the restaurant wasn’t busy to have the attitude. Shoved the menus at us and walked off. Never asked if we wanted an app, offer specials, etc. Just said “are you ready?”. Ordered fighten chair, it was scallops and shrimp with tortellini drenched in pesto sauce with a still frozen breadstick. Husband ordered fried fish (grouper) and shrimp, had to ask three times what the fish options were because the waitress mumbled. Our girls wanted dessert and I told them with the attitude from the waitress she wouldn’t even ask. Sure enough she just brings the bill and walks off. We just paid and left minimal tip never asked for anything extra. Watched her treat others the same and they had to ask for everything as well. I know staffing is limited right now and tourist are a pain to deal with at times but if you are in the service industry it pays to be nice and helpful Especially to those who are polite to you. Asked for a manger as we were leaving to see if maybe someone could help the advise the girl on customer service so she could get tips and possibly bring the restaurant in more revenue but no one could tell me where him/her was. When I got in the car a server came out and I asked if she was looking for me. She said no, just my customer who left their card. I said well I’m looking for a manger and she said oh, rolled her eyes and walked back in. Apparently this is the attitude of all the servers. The only one I encountered that was nice was a busboy. The only reason I gave this a star was because I had to and the view was worth that. Go to Tale of The Whale or BlueWater Grill and raw bar instead of the place.

We stopped by for lunch on our way from Chapel Hill to Avon. We really wanted to be able to sit outdoors and we were quickly lead to an outdoor patio with a wonderful view of the water and boat docks. Our server was MJ and she was great. I ordered the Soft Shell Crab BLT and my wife ordered a salad with Shrimp. I do a lot of cooking, but never cook Soft Shell Crab, so I was excited to try something new. I wasn't disappointed. The sandwich had a good sized fried Soft Shell Crab, plenty of Bacon and lettuce and tomato. I came with a side of remoulade sauce which was very good. It came between 2 large pieces of Texas Toast. I had to remove the top piece because it was just too much bread for me. The accompanying fries were very good. My wife said her salad was delicious and just the right amount of food. If you are in the area, or just passing by, Stripers is an excellent stop that we would highly recommend.

In town for a fishing trip and wanted to eat some good seafood. Saturday night, and we get to the restaurant to find they have live music going. Could have been cool, but the downstairs of this restaurant is entirely too small to host a live band playing way too loud. Just obnoxious. We were seated in the first floor side room next to the bar area with the band and couldn’t even hear ourselves talk. Asked to be moved upstairs and were told it was full and the tables up there hadn’t even gotten their food yet. Debated and almost left for somewhere else, and then another employee told us they did have a table for us upstairs. We get upstairs, and find it’s not even half full…. What the heck? We were waited on fairly quickly by a not too enthusiastic server. Our group of 6 each ordered something different. In general, I would recommend that if you want a decent seafood meal at this restaurant, you need to go with the fried options. Those who got fried fish were happy with their food. This restaurant is NOT good at broiling/baking fish. The 2 of us who ordered the fish of the day (snapper) this way were sorely disappointed. Both were tasteless. One was a thin filet, skin still on, and overcooked around the edges. One was a thicker filet that wasn’t even close to done… still pink raw meat inside. The waitress took it away and promised a replacement quickly. Well, the rest of us were done with our meals by the time the replacement was brought. Further, it was way overdone and over half of it was too hard and crusty to eat. Complained to the waitress, who had never come back to ask if it was okay, when we were done, and she said she would talk to the manager. Somehow they decided it warranted a 50% discount on that entrée. So, this member of our party had to sit and watch everyone else eat and then is served a poor replacement, and gets a 50% discount??? Mgmt needs a lesson in customer service. Be warned, some of the side items have an up charge, which the waitress failed to mention when she was suggesting them. Couldn’t ever find the side dishes on the menu so I have no idea if the up charge is written anywhere. In summary, there are too many nearby better restaurants for me to ever go back to this one. The Blue Water Grill is very close and far better.

We came here on a random Thursday, on our way to the aquarium. What a find! The views of the bay were spectacular, and you could see them from almost every table. The food was excellent. Beach restaurant food always tends to be average, but this food here was amazing. The fish tacos were fresh and not overly covered in sauce. My husband got the shrimp and grits and they were cooked and seasoned perfectly. What was most important was how sweet our server (Jill? Sorry I am so bad with names! She is also the manager) was, and how wonderful she was with our two year old. She made us feel totally at home and knew exactly what to give a baby to keep him occupied. Next time you’re in OBX, put Stripers on your list.

We have frequented stripers for years but it has been on a downhill path for the last year or two. The food has always been pretty phenomenal and service used to be great. Not sure what happened but the service has gotten much worse. Servers will not seat you in preferred area even when empty. Drinks are never refilled adequately. Items asked for are forgotten. Last year the power went out right after we put our order in and we had to wait over an hour for them to realize it wasn’t actually put in. Gave us half off on meal of 5 for the inconvenience. Just went in to enjoy our 2nd sit down meal in 4 months and the top floor is leaking due to some plumbing problem. Hot water was completely shut off. Seems like a maintenance problem that got swept under the rug. Really disappointed in the last multiple visits here. Not sure we will give it another shot. Past 3 times we have vowed not to return but we keep trying to give them a chance to redeem themselves... Failed again.

We have been going here for many years on vacation each year. We made it a yearly family dinner night. The last few times we've been there the food has been below mediocre and over priced. The shrimp and grits used to be so good, now it's clumpy and over cooked shrimp. The fried platters.....the oil needs to be changed/cleaned for sure. We always loved the fried green tomatoes but the last time, we didn't even eat them.

We must have hit this place on a bad day. PRO: friendly service and bacon was crispy, water view. CON: appetizer served with the meals, shrimp and grits waaaay too salty, salad served without removing requested item (onions), adding a protein doubled the price of a salad. We won’t be back considering the myriad options in Mateo.

We just loved this little spot! Thursday was trivia night and we joined in and won second place!! The bar was well appointed and the bartenders friendly and attentive. The steamed shrimp was cooked just right and nicely spiced. Calamari was delicious too. If you go, the crab bisque is a "must try" item and the Cobb salad was perfectly presented and a generous portion. The mussels were also a generous portion and also outstanding. The atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming.
