This was one of our favorites...until something changed over the last few months, so we heard from others. We went to see for ourselves and sadly the rumors are true....food is not the same quality. Our meals were not hot enough, under-seasoned, and boring. Won't...be back.More

Stripers has been one of our "go to" restaurants for years but no more. The menu was completely different this year, the service was subpar and distracted. The food was awful. We couldn't believe the difference. We are so sad that this restaurant has taken...such a nosedive.More

My partner got food poisoning from cooked scallops in a pasta dish within an hour of leaving here, overpriced understaffed. Located in a private marina/ condominium development very limited parking. Better off across the causeway or places with more foot traffic in manteo

My husband and I had dinner at Striper's with friends a few weeks ago. While the atmosphere is pretty basic the view is great and so is the food. I really liked our waiter and he was very helpful, knowledgeable and attentive - plus if...we asked a question he didn't know the answer to he went and got the answer. Thank you! Both husbands ordered the Chicken Enchiladas (which they enjoyed although my husband didn't care for the cheese sauce so next time I'll remind him to order it on the side), and both wives ordered the Fish Tacos which we both enjoyed very, very much. That was plenty of food for us but I did order what turned out to be a really great glass of sparkling Rose. Thank you Stripers for adding that to your wine list. We look forward to coming to Striper's again. We hadn't been in a while but it's definitely back in our mix!More

Unfortunately, the website had wonderful pictures promising a refined meal. Upon arrival, we had called ahead for 15 people, and they confirmed. We had to wait 20 minutes, and once we were sat, there weren’t enough seats, so we tried to help and figure it...out— wait staff didn’t agree with that, so off to a bad start. Then, once we ordered food, to say it was not good is the understatement of the century. It was unclear that the platters were fried, so the scallops were chewy and terrible, sandwiches were fried instead of grilled, drinks had no taste of alcohol, silverware was scarce, and food was cold. Service was not great, although our waiter clearly had a long day, which most wait staff have these days, I can respect that, but her attitude set the tone for the rest of the meal, and it was sour. We were really looking forward to this meal, and left absolutely disappointed.More

Slowest service ever. I felt badly for our waitress. She was obviously over-extended. Thankfully the food was great. The meat loaf was hearty and flavorful. The crab cakes had lots of chunky crab. Fish dinners were also good. We left full and happy.

In town for a fishing trip and wanted to eat some good seafood. Saturday night, and we get to the restaurant to find they have live music going. Could have been cool, but the downstairs of this restaurant is entirely too small to host a...live band playing way too loud. Just obnoxious. We were seated in the first floor side room next to the bar area with the band and couldn’t even hear ourselves talk. Asked to be moved upstairs and were told it was full and the tables up there hadn’t even gotten their food yet. Debated and almost left for somewhere else, and then another employee told us they did have a table for us upstairs. We get upstairs, and find it’s not even half full…. What the heck? We were waited on fairly quickly by a not too enthusiastic server. Our group of 6 each ordered something different. In general, I would recommend that if you want a decent seafood meal at this restaurant, you need to go with the fried options. Those who got fried fish were happy with their food. This restaurant is NOT good at broiling/baking fish. The 2 of us who ordered the fish of the day (snapper) this way were sorely disappointed. Both were tasteless. One was a thin filet, skin still on, and overcooked around the edges. One was a thicker filet that wasn’t even close to done… still pink raw meat inside. The waitress took it away and promised a replacement quickly. Well, the rest of us were done with our meals by the time the replacement was brought. Further, it was way overdone and over half of it was too hard and crusty to eat. Complained to the waitress, who had never come back to ask if it was okay, when we were done, and she said she would talk to the manager. Somehow they decided it warranted a 50% discount on that entrée. So, this member of our party had to sit and watch everyone else eat and then is served a poor replacement, and gets a 50% discount??? Mgmt needs a lesson in customer service. Be warned, some of the side items have an up charge, which the waitress failed to mention when she was suggesting them. Couldn’t ever find the side dishes on the menu so I have no idea if the up charge is written anywhere. In summary, there are too many nearby better restaurants for me to ever go back to this one. The Blue Water Grill is very close and far better.More

We ate at Striper’s Bar and Grill in Manteo on Friday, June 24th. We would eat here every year for the the past 8 years. They used to have amazing cheese steak egg rolls. This year, we stopped in for dinner. They no longer have...the egg rolls. No big deal, we ordered Mahi mahi, burgers, and Nachos. The pork nachos were soupy. I guess they don’t drain the beans when putting them on the plate. The burgers were ok. Sweet potato fries were very good. The waitress for our table was apparently the bartender also. She wasn’t very friendly and treated us as though we were bothering her by being there. I asked if I could order a chicken sandwich as a takeout order. I was told NO. They don’t do takeout orders. I was told that we have to order the meal, have it brought to our table and then I can ask for a box to wrap it up myself. I said ok, ordered it with our other meals that we were eating there. Our meals were delivered to the table by someone else. I asked for a box to wrap up my takeout chicken sandwich. The girl was very nice and said, oh, I can wrap up your takeout order for you. I told her no, according to our waitress, you aren’t allowed. She said she could do it for me. I didn’t want the food to go back into the kitchen, so I just had her bring me a box. I will not be taking my family here in the future. There are so many more places in OBX that will appreciate our business and our money. Our Striper tradition has ended.More

Arrived at 4:15 went to second floor to seat ourselves per sign advised. Waitress did not greet us, only asked what we wanted to drink (mumbled that) the restaurant wasn’t busy to have the attitude. Shoved the menus at us and walked off. Never asked...if we wanted an app, offer specials, etc. Just said “are you ready?”. Ordered fighten chair, it was scallops and shrimp with tortellini drenched in pesto sauce with a still frozen breadstick. Husband ordered fried fish (grouper) and shrimp, had to ask three times what the fish options were because the waitress mumbled. Our girls wanted dessert and I told them with the attitude from the waitress she wouldn’t even ask. Sure enough she just brings the bill and walks off. We just paid and left minimal tip never asked for anything extra. Watched her treat others the same and they had to ask for everything as well. I know staffing is limited right now and tourist are a pain to deal with at times but if you are in the service industry it pays to be nice and helpful Especially to those who are polite to you. Asked for a manger as we were leaving to see if maybe someone could help the advise the girl on customer service so she could get tips and possibly bring the restaurant in more revenue but no one could tell me where him/her was. When I got in the car a server came out and I asked if she was looking for me. She said no, just my customer who left their card. I said well I’m looking for a manger and she said oh, rolled her eyes and walked back in. Apparently this is the attitude of all the servers. The only one I encountered that was nice was a busboy. The only reason I gave this a star was because I had to and the view was worth that. Go to Tale of The Whale or BlueWater Grill and raw bar instead of the place.More

We arrived at 11:30am, first ones in the restaurant, party of 2. The view is lovely. Nice place for a drink although we only had iced tea. The Calamari had a nice flavor, but mostly fried coating. Overcooked. Little squid that you couldn’t really tell...you were eating calamari. I ordered a garden salad with crab cake - seared in a pan versus deep fried. Came out cold. Almost like from the refrigerator and leftover from the night before. I sent it back and asked them to warm it up and I believe it got put in the microwave. Came back warm. The flavor/quality was poor. Likely because it wasn’t fresh. My spouse had a burger. He said it was fair. All in all, we won’t go back. Too bad, use to be very good. The servers weren’t very friendly, and when most of the crab cake was left on the plate, no questions asked. I imagine she was afraid to ask. Honestly, we are easy going, and this meal for $60 was a fail.More

We just loved this little spot! Thursday was trivia night and we joined in and won second place!! The bar was well appointed and the bartenders friendly and attentive. The steamed shrimp was cooked just right and nicely spiced. Calamari was delicious too. If you...go, the crab bisque is a "must try" item and the Cobb salad was perfectly presented and a generous portion. The mussels were also a generous portion and also outstanding. The atmosphere is pleasant and welcoming.More

We didn't and just happened to luck out, but I would recommend getting a reservation at virtually any seafood restaurant you go to in OBX during the summer. Especially if you have a decent size party.
