Let’s be honest, sandwiches and wraps are the best food group. I mean look at all the positives: portable/handheld, all-in-one food groups, and a multitude of options. So, it can easily be said sandwiches and wrap shops are the best place for a family lunch! If you find yourself on Roanoke Island and have a craving for a great sandwich, head over to Poor Richard’s. Not only did they have delicious food, but amid all the COVID-19 craziness they requested a mask while ordering and offered spaced outdoor and indoor seating. Now let’s discuss taste. I’ll be upfront, I’m not a big fan of fried fish, but my dad ordered the Fried Rockfish Wrap and I had to try a bite. I do not lie one bit when I say it was the best wrap I’d ever tasted! The fish was fresh tasting, perfectly fried, and pared with great ingredients! My mom had the crab cake sandwich and the little taste I was allowed was absolutely, positively amazing! The crab cake was not over breaded and it was pared with an amazing tartar sauce! She also had onion rings... they were divine! I personally ordered the Grilled Buffalo Sandwich. Y’all, I’m picky about my sandwiches, but I’ve got to say it had amazing meat, sauce to die for, and the bread that was indescribably amazing! I got pasta salad for my side, and, man, it was so good, a yummy, light flavor! I hope you enjoy Poor Richard’s a much as I do, and I can’t wait to make my way back to N.C. Outer Banks to have a delicious meal at my new favorite deli shop!

We ate here for lunch and we all enjoyed the food. The fries were delicious-flavorful and crisp. I had the pimento cheese and really enjoyed it (messy but good). My daughter had the turkey BLT club on Texas Toast, my husband had a hamburger, one son had a cucumber and cream cheese sandwich and potato salad and my other son had a ham and cheese. We all loved the food and the service. Since we were concerned about COVID, the server let us eat outside on the covered back porch (it was rainy) and we were able to watch the boats. Great experience!

Delicious! A small sandwich shop, it is popular so be sure to expect a wait-patience is required. However the portions are hearty and the soup, chili, and sandwiches were great; a nice break from all the fried seafood we’ve eaten while on the Outer Banks. The menu hangs along the hall, you will order at the counter, and your food comes to your table by number. The ladies working the restaurant during our visit were obviously working hard and we appreciated this small business the weekend after Thanksgiving. We will be back!!

We chose this place based on the awesome reviews and were not disappointed! The menu has an fantastic selection of well known favorites, but also fun combination flavors too. It was difficult to decide. The line was almost to the entrance, but the service was friendly and doing a great job trying to keep up. The Greek wrap is a wonderful blend of Greek flavors and the Caesar dressing was a nice touch instead of traditional tzatziki sauce. The cucumber salad was good, but I wish the cucumbers were chopped instead of sliced, so it would be easier to get all of the flavors of the salad in one bite. My husband got the hot Italian sub and said it was also delicious. The potato salad lacked flavor, but the overall meal was good and a good value for the price. Would recommend!

Have eaten here before and loved their Reuben and grilled Italian sandwiches. One of the specials in late December was a pickle brined chicken sandwich. It was one of the best pieces of fried chicken ever. Thick with a delicious breading. Moist. It had pickles on it. Dilly, dilly! I was hooked. They were out of cucumber salad, but the potato was salad was good. I hope they have the chicken the next time I visit. Do you do requests!? Busy place but sandwiches arrived in a short time. We sat in bar area. Pleasant.

The sandwiches and the service are at the top. Some of the most friendly staff we have ever experienced. At lunch time, there will be a line that moves quickly as the highly coordinated staff work you thru. 1st time I had and highly recommend the Rueben sandwich and the wife had the pastrami and cheese. Packed with flavor, a generous portion of meats and very well prepared bread. Order was served in a timely manner and well worth every minute waiting for it to arrive. So good went back the next day. Italian sub this time and pastrami again for the wife. The sub was heated and the sub roll was one of the most softest I've ever had. This sub was made to perfection with the freshest ingredients. For a great sandwich and a great experience with a friendly staff go here and see how it's done and done right. This will be at the top of your sandwich list to experience.

My husband suggested calling in our order to Poor Richard’s to save a little time. Brilliant!! He walked in passed about 15 guest in line and within 5 min. walked out with our picnic fixings. Menu reads well. We decided on Philly Cheese Steak sandwich’s. Sandwiches were cooked perfectly. Onion rings would probably be better if we had enjoyed them inside. Oh, almost forgot... soups were delicious. Took our goodies a few blocks away to a lovely park and enjoyed our picnic goodies from Poor Richard’s Sandwich shop. We highly recommend.

We were recommended this eatery by another family traveling in the OBX area, and we are so glad we took their advice. Poor richards is located right on the docks. Very affordable and they make a BIG sandwich. Their cucumber salad is the best we’ve ever had, and their unsweetened tea must be fresh brewed because I’m picky and I loved it! Highly recommend for a fast, budget-friendly meal!

We had lunch here today and it was fabulous! We ordered warm deli sandwiches. And the gf bread was perfectly toasted and tasty. Each sandwich had a sizable amount of meat, which complimented the price. We ate out on the back porch, just a few feet from the water. Great view! And right in the heart of historic Manteo! We’ll go back!

While visiting Manteo, I went in search of a casual restaurant for dinner. I found Poor Richard’s and was very happy I did. It is right on the water, so you can sit out on the porch and watch the sailboats and enjoy the evening breeze. The sandwich was delicious, the cucumber salad was tangy and a perfect accompaniment to the sandwich. A very tasty and relaxing dinner!

Stopped in for a late night meal. My husband and I split a steak salad and some fries. The casual atmosphere looks like a typical bar so I wasn't expecting a whole lot but the food was very good. The steak on the salad was like the shaved steak you get on a Philly cheesesteak and the craisins added an interesting flavor. Most fries are too greasy for my husband but he emptied the basket here! Friendly, efficient service, too.

We always eat here when in the Outer Banks area. There is an impressive variety of soups, salads, and sandwiches which are fresh and tasty. We love best that you can eat outside on a patio overlooking the river. We got there right at 11 when they opened and very shortly there was a line. Still worth it!

Was in the Outerbanks area for one week-and looked forward to trying new places. Because off season, this was one of the few eateries still open and it came highly recommended for pub sandwiches…it did not disappoint. Not only were the sandwiches really good but they were able to accommodate my celiac disease-gluten intolerance. We ate here our first night and had to go back more before we left. The fried pimento cheese is the bomb! Waitresses/bartenders very nice & friendly-provided excellent service. Highly recommend.

The crab cake sandwich was actually lump crab. Many places are not using the real thing due to the high cost. This was a high quality, tasty crab cake. I’m usually not a fan of London broil but my wife’s sandwich was thin sliced, beautifully marinated with horsey sauce, tender and absolutely delicious. Prices are definitely right, friendly service, a beautiful view.. Hope to return next time here.

Based on my research on this app, I was expecting more than just a bar to sit in for dinner. I'm wondering if the waterfront dining is for lunch? We decided to stay for dinner and had a quiet table for 4. The grilled pimento sandwich on GF bread was delicious!!! I could have eaten that every day of my trip! Several other families came in for dinner and there were a couple larger tables to accommodate them. The bar scene was quite mild at that time of night so no worries there. Great place and walking distance to the stores and lighthouse.
