This place was very disappointing. After reading the reviews we thought we would give it a try while in the area. We ordered online so it was ready and waiting when we got there. The outside tables were full so we took it back to...our cars to eat. The ciabatta bread was so hard it literally cut the roof of our mouths and our bottom gums. Seriously, the hardest ciabatta bread I've ever seen. I got The Godfather sandwich, which would had been good, but could hardly bite through the bread to eat. Husband got the club, which also came on the ciabatta bread, which was also as hard as a rock. He said there was very little bacon and the sandwich had no flavor. Our two young boys got the pb&j which was actually good and is the only reason I gave this restaurant 2 starts instead of 1. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately we will not be returning.More

Being a small family run business we strive to make everyone happy and most of the time we do! We are so sorry you didn't enjoy your sandwiches. I found your online order and issued you a full refund. We were extremely busy and your...More
You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. They can customize the order to your liking. There is an inside booth area as well as outside tables. It is close to waterfront shopping area and they bring out your food quickly....Everything tasted great!More
Wow, my family and I had a great experience at the Hungry Pelican on our visit to Roanoke island! The large menu is packed with all kinds of yummy sandwich and soup options- I had a hard time choosing! My husband ordered a delicious Reuben,...I had the French dip (which was also good) and my kids LOVED their kids meal hot dogs with applesauce, drink and scooby snacks! I loved the very reasonable $5.50 price tag for the kids meals! Staff was friendly and while we are outside in the sunshine (only 4 tables) the interior looked lovely and clean. I imagine this place gets slammed with customers in the summer, but I think it would be worth the wait! Especially as there didn't seem to be many other eateries nearby.More
Recently went to the hungry pelican because of 4.8 review on google. That was a lie. Run by teenagers, who complained whole time. A club comes with 3 pics of bread not 2. Definitely not worth the $8.25, didn't even get the pickle. Won't be...returning.More
My husband got the Angry Bird and I got the chicken salad sandwich. Both were amazing. The Angry Bird has layers of flavor almost a grilled cheese like sandwich but with a delicious amount of spice. The chicken salad had almonds and bacon on a...wonderful ciabatta bread. We also got an amazing salted pretzel cookie that you should definitely try.More
