Stopped i this evening around. 800pm. Table of three were treated to excellent food with huge portions. The fried pork chop was perfectly cooked. Fried green tomatoes excellent. My wife had the pulled pork sandwich which is different and better than just a pulled pork...sandwich. She loved it! Our waitress was fun and service was great. Give this place a try!More
Absolutely wonderful! Came here with a large group and the staff is phenomenal. The food delicious and plentiful!! Portion sizes huge! I would not hesitate to visit again and try other items on the menu. The Meatloaf and Fried Chicken are highly recommended.
Vacationed in Cocoa Beach but stumbled upon amazing Google reviews when searching for a place to eat. Figured it must be worth the half hour drive with all the five star reviews and one saying it was "literally better than Paula Dean". Wrong. Let me...first start with the GOOD: Clean, nice & simple decor, efficient waiter, and Loyd himself came over to chat with us and genuinely cared if we had enjoyed everything. I fibbed and said yes. The BAD: Hubby got fried chicken, collards, and mac n cheese. He said everything was fine but he's not the type to complain. I tasted his greens which were very good. I also tasted his mac n cheese which was terrible. Just tasteless white oily shells, not macaroni/elbow pasta with American cheese. I ordered chicken gizzards (too tough to chew so I ate 3 and threw the rest away), fried green tomatoes (just salted batter over a tomato, no other seasonings like cayenne nor a dipping sauce) fried okra (same sadness) and mashed potatoes (tasted like the dehydrated kind they gave you in elementary school and it was drowned in gravy). I'm from NC and this was nothing like grandma used to cook. If you go, order the greens and nothing else. But that would be wierd. The UGLY: On top of this, although the restaurant was empty when we arrived, they seated all the newcomers with us up against the wall back to back in the booths when they could've easily social distanced us. Perhaps that's a Florida thing: they think Covid is over? At least all staff were masked. Adding insult to injury, the people seated behind us were allowed to bring their CHIHUAHUA in and lick up the crumbs on their table. I'm not even lying. A DOG was at their table and nothing was said. These were not blind folks who needed a service dog...soooo.... yeah. Gross. I left with an upset tummy due to too much fried foods and too little bang for our buck. Overall last thoughts: Very sad that we drove so far and I was so disappointed. I love supporting small black owned businesses but I can't reccomend this restaurant. Perhaps if you're from a region of the country where you have no clue what southern soul food should taste like you might give this a try. If you're from the South and know that mac n cheese should be orange elbow pasta, not limp shells with white oily clumps, keep driving. I apologize for the long review; I'm a true foodie! :)More
Your greeted with a smile here. They explain the menu for you.. and you hetter be hungry.... the best grren beans ever as well the mac and cheese is fresh and hot. The ribs were amazing, fell off the bone. You will NOT leave hungry....Will be back.More
We were so happy to have found this gem at the end of our vacation. Best southern food, and amazing service, they made us feel at home! We will come back!
Stumbled upon this place and couldn't pass it up because of the name. Server Anna greeted and sat us down. She was so great to let us sample some ox tail before ordering as it was our first time ever eating ox tail. Delicious it...was, but we ordered the pork chops, fried chicken and meatloaf due to Mr Loyd's recommendations. He came out to chat with us and explain the different ways his dishes are served. The sides are wonderfully authentic, too. My fave was the carrot souffle which was more like a dessert than a side dish. All the food was delish, delish, delish, especially the FRIED GREEN TOMATOES w/ their special sauce, and you have to like grits and collard greens in order to order those. The corn muffins were tinier than I expected. We saved room for dessert. I would love to have tried them all, but let my 15 year-old son pick since he wasn't on board to trying new foods and was humoring us by going to this place. He chose the salted caramel chocolate cake. Unbelievably delicious. This restaurant was the whole package - good authentic food, 'mom and pop' atmosphere, and friendly server and owner. Would definitely return. Next time I'll try the sweet and sour Brussels sprouts!More
I had never walked into a restaurant and noticed how clean it was until walking into Loyd Have Mercy. The food style lured us in, southern cooking (read “great fried chicken”) is hard to come by. The staff was very friendly and efficient, I heard...that our server Matt was new, but it didn’t seem that way. Loved our meal and the super clean and homey atmosphere.More
We drove over from Orlando JUST for the fried chicken and ended up with full bellies and to go boxes because we ordered more than the chicken! Everything was fresh and really tasty. A lot of guests ordered the carrot souffle for a side AND...dessert.More
This restaurant is simply awful. Not a clean place, and the so-called soul food is oversalted and just plain awful. I would fire the cook.
I have been a cook since I was 16(42 now). I have made almost every southern dish known to man. I have even added my own flair to many classics. Loyd's blew every thing I have ever made away. The green beans exploded with flavor...as did the mash potatoes(seriously these sides were mind blowing) The meatloaf was divine and for that alone I could have rolled over and died and been happy. The porkchop a classic fried delight with a generous amount of mushroom gravy on top of it that was amazing. I am so glad they are available via doordash and if you have not tried you should. Loyd's is a gift to the people of Titusville, one we do not deserve but are most grateful for. Thank you Loyd'sMore
Incredible food. Love this place. Wish they served beer or wine with the meal. The fried okra is most recommended!
If anyone watches the program Restaurant Impossible with Robert Irvine on the Food Network you have seen the episodes where this restaurant was converted from a failing enterprise to a thriving restaurant. The one item Robert did not change was the Southern Fried Chicken. I...have to admit that was a great call as it is one of the best I have tried. The sides match up well with the chicken. I would recommend stopping in sometime for either a side down meal or takeout as it is worth it.More
We have dined at ‘Loyd Have Mercy’ 3 times. My wife loves the fried green tomatoes and I love the chicken. There are a lot of other soul food options. The portions are large and a great value for the money. We had dined there...before ‘Restaurant Impossible’ came. The new dining area is great and the food flew out of the kitchen. We live in Columbia, SC and there are only two restaurants we always go to when we are there. Loyd have mercy and Dixie Crossroads. Anyone who visits Titusville to see a space launch or any other reason should plan to dine at this excellent restaurant!More
We were out of town visiting and came across Loyd Have Mercy! Everything was fantastic! The staff was so friendly and accommodating! My kids kept commenting how nice they were. It was Easter and it felt like we were eating with family. We look forward...to stopping here again when we visit soon!More
