We stopped by on a Saturday at noon (New Year's Eve) because our favorite Greek place, Athen's Market, was closed. Troy's met our very high standards for Greek food, even surprising us with the quality of the food. We now have a new go-to Greek place in San Diego!
We ordered the calamari salad and the chicken souvlaki from the "light lunch" menu. Both were exceptional. The calamari was perfectly cooked, not chewy or rubbery. The salad dressing was surprisingly good, not too sweet, and had a nice zing to it. It paired perfectly with the salad. The chicken was tender and juicy, as it should be but rarely is. The rice was flavorful and the salad, again, was great. Along with the soft and delicious pita, it was a filling and satisfying meal.
The handsome young man who waited on our table was very polite, on point, and prompt. He was a great server.
The one down note was the tzatziki, making this a 4-star and not a 5-star review. It was really, shockingly bad given the quality and care shown in the rest of the food. It tasted like it had been made with sweetened yogurt and fenugreek, which is not at all what it's supposed to be made of or taste like. It should be garlicky and tangy, with dill and lemon, not sweet or licorice tasting. Hard pass.

Lamb shank was very good. I enjoyed the egg lemon soup. Spanikopita was ok. Service was slow, but the food made up for it. I would definitely go back again.

Troy’s is a great place to eat. They serve Large portions, good food and have great service. We visit every time we are in town.

Each takeout experience was disappointing. Long waits well past time promised. Incomplete orders when we got home. Before COVID we ate inside several times and always felt uncomfortable. The staff seems indifferent at best. Sometimes they give you that look "so what, who cares". There are other excellent Greek food restaurants and takeout in San Diego.

Oompah! 🔥🔥🔥 Mamma Mia! 💃🕺 Getting in a Dancing Queen mood at Troy’s! Gotta love the flaming Greek cheese (Saganaki) with a healthy Greek Salad! I love the sea foam green decorated booths with Greek art and white cloth tablecloths! YUM!😋 So grateful for another new restaurant experience.

Went to lunch here with two friends, and it was so awesome, I had to return for dinner. I liked the real table cloths and napkins. The huge menu has something for every taste. Both times, the waiters were attentive but didn't frequent the table every few minutes. I don't know about other diners, but I really hate when my mouth is full and the wait staff pops by the table to keep asking if everything's "okay." The food tasted awesome, the atmosphere was eclectic and Greek, and I appreciated just being able to sit and savor it all!

In have weird allergies and am limited to what I can eat. I'm always afraid of cross contamination, I told my server and he made sure my meal was prepared safely

QUICKIE REVIEW
Get your Greek fix here!
FOOD
This is what I tried:
-Amethystos Red (it is wine and the staff’s favorite)
-1/4 lemon chicken and gyro
-Baklava (dessert)
First of, I can see why the wine is a staff favorite. Needless to say, that was well received. The lemon chicken really does have a lemon zing to it with a nice grilled flavor. The gyro went well with the pita bread and sauce. The soup that comes with the meal….mmm…that too had a lemon kick to it. I think the chicken and gyro is a great introduction to this restaurant. Lastly, the baklava was a nice nutty dessert to tie it all in.
PARKING
Yes. It is in a strip mall with enough parking spaces.
SERVICE
It was ok. Waitress checked in on us periodically. She did pretty good as it looked like she was the only one holding down all the tables.
PRICE
Under $30 for two.
TIP/OTHER THOUGHTS
When you first walk in, they have all of their accolades posted on the wall. Pretty cool to see all the awards and recognition they have received. They do good food.

Large party of thirty of us for a preholiday gathering in December 2018. Greek style chicken and rice were delicious as well as the Greek yogurt sauce, were tasty. The dinner included a green salad or a soup. I wanted to try the stuffed grape leaves but will try it next time. Everyone seemed happy with their selections. The parking was tight, as the restaurant shares a very busy shopping center with limited parking lot for all these businesses in this strip mall.

This place has an enduring charm about it as well as being always a reliable venue for a delicious and well-deserved reputation for excellent authentic cuisine. The place is always spic and span, very inviting, and has its attentive staff and owner on their toes to see you are well served and content with a delicious meal. Servings are ample without being "over the rim of the plates". Nothing tastes more refreshing than a Greek salad (almost everything has one version or another) to cleanse the palate and refresh the tummy. You'll come back many times over.

Stopped in for breakfast. The food was good and so were the prices. The restaurant was spacious and clean. The servers were friendly. I would recommend trying it out.

We stopped in here for dinner. Our appetizer was Falafel and it was crunchy on the outside moist on the inside. Dinner was beef souvlaki. everything we ate here was delicious. Service was fast and our servers were very professional. I will eat here again.

We stopped in for dinner and my food was very under-cooked. The waitress noticed and offered to send it back. I told her it was okay (I hate sending food back) she left but returned a few minutes later and grabbed it and said I'm getting you a new one. The 2nd time the food was perfect! I appreciated the server making it right without a big scene.

Troy's has become our go to place for Greek food. My wife especially likes their Avgolemono soup. Seven of us went for Mother's Day Brunch. Even though we went at 1:00, the buffet was still full of hot delicious food. They had a large variety of breakfast and lunch items. From French toast, bacon, sausage, potatoes and scrambled eggs to salad, fruit, a variety of meats, rice and several Greek dishes. For desserts they had chocolate cake, lemon cake and Baklava. Our waitress was very efficient and pleasant. We left satisfied and full.

Have eaten here many times over the years. 90% of the time the food and service is very good to excellent, and they have the best pita-bread in town!
I almost always order the 1/4-chicken with gyros combo-plate; it comes with soup or salad first, and the entree' includes rice, and delicious cooked carrots along with pita and tzatziki.
My brother loves their hamburgers - I have never had one there.
