We stopped by on a Saturday at noon (New Year's Eve) because our favorite Greek place, Athen's Market, was closed. Troy's met our very high standards for Greek food, even surprising us with the quality of the food. We now have a new go-to Greek...place in San Diego! We ordered the calamari salad and the chicken souvlaki from the "light lunch" menu. Both were exceptional. The calamari was perfectly cooked, not chewy or rubbery. The salad dressing was surprisingly good, not too sweet, and had a nice zing to it. It paired perfectly with the salad. The chicken was tender and juicy, as it should be but rarely is. The rice was flavorful and the salad, again, was great. Along with the soft and delicious pita, it was a filling and satisfying meal. The handsome young man who waited on our table was very polite, on point, and prompt. He was a great server. The one down note was the tzatziki, making this a 4-star and not a 5-star review. It was really, shockingly bad given the quality and care shown in the rest of the food. It tasted like it had been made with sweetened yogurt and fenugreek, which is not at all what it's supposed to be made of or taste like. It should be garlicky and tangy, with dill and lemon, not sweet or licorice tasting. Hard pass.More
