Wonderful place to sit in garden, enjoy a cool dink and have some very excellent Mexican food - the chicken mole was the very best I've had anywhere. Very generous portions so be sure you're hungry!

La Pinata is located in the Northern part of Old Town in an what was once a residence. The restaurant has been there for decades and it claims to be the oldest restaurant in the area. There are lots of tables inside and several more on a walled patio outside. The menu has all of the usual items and combination... More

La Pinata has been a favorite of mine for 18 years. While the menu has changed a little over the years the food has remained great! The ambience is unique as it is tucked away in San Diego's Old Town. Every time I am in town I try to stop by for lunch or dinner.

We ate here with a party of seven last week. The food was very good, and they gave the kids little pinatas, which they loved. Service was friendly and nice. Plenty of chips and great salsa, the fajitas were terrific, all the food was very good. Everyone said they would like to go again when we get back to San... More

We decided to dine here, enticed by their sign stating something like "Best Mexican Food in all of San Diego" After our experience here I'm going to state I think they might be stretching the truth just a little bit. We showed up there on a Saturday night and were promptly seated. The place was very crowed and busy. We... More

While La Piñata has been around since 1928, my family's experiences date from 1971. In all of this time, we have enjoyed consistently excellent service and equally excellent food... until the recent change in ownership. Waiters and waitresses, many of whom had been loyal employees for decades, assured us that the changes would be cosmetic. The chef and the recipes... More

Showed up right as they opened and received great service. Cheese crisp is exceptional. Carnitas was tender, juicy, and shredded. Excellent spot for lunch! Will have to go back for weekend brunch.

Our waiter Pancho T. was so nice. The food was amazing! Two of the well known restaurants were suggested but we opted for the more quaint. We were not disappointed! The Margaritas were not the syrupy yuck but very good. We would highly recommend.

Stopped in here while making a quick pit stop in San Diego. The food was really good, although I didn't particularly like their enchilada sauce, but it was still overall wonderful. The service wasn't so great though. Took a long time to order and only saw the waiter a couple times.

My wife and I were visiting San Diego for the first time, and this was the first Mexican restaurant that we ate at during our trip. We were visiting Old Town and looking for a place to eat, and we weren't really sure where to go. We walked by this place, and decided to give it a try, particularly since... More
