If you ever find yourself in Old Town San Diego, have lunch at this great little eatery. We loved the guacamole and their salsa is divine!

I am a vegetarian and a low carb person, so it's hard to please me at a Mexican restaurant. The guac was good, my bean burrito with scrambled eggs was ok. They put rice in it even though I asked for no rice. the salsa was really watery. Sorry!

After wandering around the Spanish quarter, decided to walk up the road and came across this restaurant, and wanted some Mexican food. Lovely restaurant, lots to look at, great menu. As we had skipped breakfast we had the tacos. Excellent. Great waitress Christina who was excellent. I had the prawn taco, my husband loves re-fried beans, and said these ones... More

Visiting San Diego we did a short side trip to Old Town and had lunch at Alamo Mexican Cafe. This place is a block over from the main Old Town area so was a little less crowded. The service was very good and the food was good. I am always skeptical of the tourist places but this was an enjoyable... More

Away from the crowds of Old Town, a block from the trolley stop, we were happy to find this restaurant. There were no lines to get in (on Saturday at 1:30 PM). But we took a chance on the Alamo since there were enough people already seated. Service was very good. Even though our waitress had quite a few tables... More

You can find this place just down and across the street from the trolley stop. Very good basic Mexican food at a very reasonable price. Excellent margaritas too. Not fancy but not a dump either. Service was very good. Large portions for lunch. Less crowded and less so expensive than similar places in the historic park section.

Had the chicken taco salad. Was great. Couple of nights later stopped in for margaritas that were great! Husband had regular one while mine was strawberry blended. Surprised it isn't busier as always could walk in without a wait.

Everything recommended by our guide was packed with a line down the street, so we decided to try this restaurant. What a pleasant surprise. The service was very good and the food was even better. Don't get me wrong, it is not elegant or formal. This is a standard Mexican restaurant with a pleasant courtyard feel and good margaritas.

We took the Old Town Trolly tour and upon our return to Old Town we got hungry. Lots of places to eat, but a store owner told us that the Alamo was good. She was right. Walked over, sat down and quickly our drinks were brought to our table. We ordered traditional enchiladas with rice and beans. Very good and... More
