We visited this place with a few friends. We had fried zucchini and potato brussels sprouts soup as starter. Both great! My main course, the black bean cakes were a little dry. I also tried the fruit iced tea and it was really good. My dessert, the donut ice cream sandwich was divine!! The service was nice. I give four... More

We met a few friends, ladies we had traveled in Cuba with, for dinner at Moncai. What a find. It's a small vegan restaurant and bakery. Small menu but the food was really good. You can get beer and wine here also. I would recommend the pasta or dumplings and a pastry for dessert.

My sister is gluten-free and vegan and my wife and I had dinner with her at Moncai during a recent visit to San Diego and thoroughly enjoyed it. We started with Brussel spout appetizer which was delicious. It had a really good spicy kick. I had the special which was "crab cakes" which were made with chickpeas were very tasty.... More

Love this place. We had: avocado bruschetta, BLT, spaghetti and meatballs, mushrooms, cinnamon roll, and lemon donut. Everything we ate was delicious and fresh. The sauces for the salad,BLT, and mushrooms were light with lots of flavor. Great portions, great service from our waitress--forget her name--a nice, young, Asian lady. Even a die hard carnivore will love this vegan cuisine.

Came here for brunch and was a little disappointed with the food. Wasn't keen on the potatoes, and tempeh bacon, but the pancakes were amazing!

Okay, I must say being vegan is not easy let alone finding places where you can have what other people consider a regular meal but still follow your dietary restrictions. At Moncai vegan they make it simple and quaint to eat the way that you want which is healthy and still have delicious food.

This place is awesome. They recently moved to a larger spot on Adams avenue. I love the chikn and dumplings on a cool afternoon. The tastes are just like when I was a kid. And the fresh cinnamon rolls are the best. They also have vegan donuts that are pretty good. If you are looking for a vegan restaurant in... More

It's hard to find vegan breakfast food in San Diego. Although they open at 11AM, (Sundays at 9 for brunch), I was craving breakfast food. I am so glad that we found this place. The pancakes are to die for and their desserts are amazing as well.

The restaurant is a tiny little slice of heaven and you would never know it was vegan if it wasn't in the name. The food is nothing short of amazing, down-home cooking that evokes happy memories of meals from your childhood. Chef brought out a sample of the chik'n and dumplings which were phenomenal (and I'm so glad that he... More
