Burger paradise

Thanks to Local Wally for guiding us here. Stupendously large and tasty burgers and shakes in a great surfer vibe a few blocks from the beach. A standout experience in SD.

Went to Hodad's for "the best burger in San Diego" as shown in several "Best of's" and highly recommended by tripadvisor. Located in the trendy Ocean beach, which is quite the scene on Saturday evening. Several people standing in line, but it moved along pretty well. This not a place where you sit and savor your burger. Noisy, crowded and... More

The burgers in general are better than fast food, and thicker than normal, but otherwise are unremarkable. The onion rings are no better than what you can buy frozen at any supermarket. Note that this review refers to the downtown San Diego (East Village?) location. The restaurant decor is downscale (if that's a legitimate word meaning "opposite of upscale"). I... More

What can I say, except this place is an institution that makes out of this world burgers, but ... Buuuuuuut ... You gotta have it with the shake. Now those shakes -- wow!!!!! There's enough of a shake to have it as a meal, so I reluctantly shared some of mine, but mmmm-mmmmm!!!!

Tried Hodad's because I saw it on diners drive ins and dives. Ordinary burgers ~ I would not wait in line for one!!

We were in town with a high school basketball team. I heard Hodad's was a good local spot to check out and wanted to bring the team here for lunch. We called ahead and asked if they could accommodate a group of 18, they said yes. When we got there and saw how busy it was and how small it... More

We got lucky and got right in. The burgers were wonderful. One of the best I ever had. And the onion rings were definitely the best ever. Wish I didn't have to go 2300 miles to get them.

We needed to order in this particular night, but I had been by the restaurant earlier in the day. Very casual, great prices, extensive menu. The go to place for burgers, and really good fries. They have a burger to suit your hunger, from smaller to huge!. This would be my place for burgers with everything on them. A fun... More

An old style surfer burger bar, very busy very popular in Oceanside. Burgers are big the place is an experience in itself. Not always the cleanest place but very popular & a must visit if you want to soak up an atmosphere of the place. The place is small & waiting outside is not uncommon but worth it the burgers...
