A wonderful step back in time!

How fitting that Frank Sinatra was playing while we were dining. We thoroughly enjoyed our trip back in time. It brought back fond memories of going out for holiday dinners with our parents. Our food was delicious albeit a bit old school. We loved the flambe desserts & the table side service. We... read more

Close to Balboa Park. Formal dining but casual dress if you like. dishes prepared at you table such as Steak Diane. Most items are from years ago that today's new place don't serve. A great treat to find some of the old school dishes. Waiters in tuxes.

This Restaurant had a good reputation two decades ago. Today it is shocking old fashioned in the Menu set up, non qualified service and tasteless food. Wasted my evening with date.

Dear Guest, First of all I would like to thank you for having chosen to dine at the Imperial House Restaurant , and also for sharing your impressions. I was sorry to hear that you did not find our staff to be as friendly and helpful as we expect them to be at all times. I do apologize for the... More

First time dining here and sadly we were disappointed. The owners should go to Palm Springs and dine at Mister Parker's and take notes. First off, the service could be more attentive, polished and friendly (waiters seem to be going through the motions). Secondly, have someone create some great "supper club" playlists and play those rather than random 70's elevator... More

The place was empty at dinner time. Service was OK. The quality of food was very low and dishes were on the heavy side. Spinach salad was impossible to eat, soaking in a heavy butter dressing. Halibut was dry, overcooked and didn't taste like a halibut. Lamb Chops were suspicious.I am just glad, I didn't get sick (to my surprise)

I feel like this place is the Grand Budapest Hotel of restaurants and could be used as a basis for a Wes Anderson movie, there was even a Pagoda type character working. Some of the people dining still might think of it as this fancy restaurant like it was in the 70s and 80s but deep down there were just... More

Right out of the 70's. You will love the bar area with the giant red leather cubbies you'll feel like your the only ones there. This place is old and worn but such an icon i give it a 4. Ive always received good service and the food is always above average.

Living in San Diego I,along with friends, have been to the Imperial House several times. Each time has been a special treat to celebrate an occasion..usually Christmas. The Imperial House reminds its guests of a premire East Coast eatery that sits here in San Diego. I bit pricey but worth it on any occasion. Both service and food are well... More

How many times have you said to yourself “What happened to old-fashioned service, extraordinary food, and a great location drenched with classic fixtures of yesteryear?” Well, it’s right here in San Diego on the corner of 5th and Kalmia streets. Last Saturday, while searching for a restaurant, not too far from the theatre, I selected the Imperial House. It’s not... More

If you want a drink in the bar on Th,Fr,Sa you are in for some entertainment because you never know what kind of a crowd you will find. The cocktails are generous, the beer selection is average, the wine selection needs help. As far as the restaurant... The dining room needs to retire - It just isn't able to serve... More
