Wait staff is friendly and this appears to be a neighborhood place. I had the peanut butter and banana French toast and the biscuits with gravy. The French toast was good but the biscuits and gravy was so good I ordered an extra order to go for dinner. They make their own biscuits and it is to die for.

Thank you for noticing how delicious our house made Angel Biscuits are. We bake them daily. They are an authentic Southern yeasted dough and take 2 days to make but we think they are worth it too! More

Great breakfast just a short walk from the bay! Will definitely go back. A nice menu for the hungry and those who just want to nibble. You'll love the coffee.

Wonderful sidewalk cafe where we had the best waffles ever! Staff was friendly and even though it was very busy, we only had to wait about 10 minutes. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Would highly recommend!

This cafe is off the main the busy streets, be prepared to queue as it is small but it's just perfect because it's calmer than a lot of its competitors. Friendly service and great granola and fruit.

This is my second visit here. Great breakfast and walking distance from most downtown hotels. We got there on Sunday at 9 am and had a 15 minute wait. You are looking at a 45 min wait if you get there much later. The facility is not great ....if on the sidewalk at a table you have all the people... More

We went for a late breakfast with a large family group. Even though it's a cozy place, they were very accommodating to us. The food was wonderful and everyone enjoyed it from ages infant in up!

Friendly staff relaxed atmosphere. Food menu included unique items. Very flavorful items! Off the beaten path but well known by the locals. Arrive early to avoid a wait. Went back 2 days in a row!

My husband and I walked from our hotel. The wait was long, about 40 minutes, but it was worth the wait. We had a great breakfast!!!! Their pumpkin hot cakes were delicious!!!

We went after reading the reviews. There was a line but plenty of seating to wait and complimentary coffee. The cornbread blueberry waffle was amazing!!!

Want breakfast? This is the place, you might have to wait in line but there's a reason for that and it's worth it. Try the peanut butter and banana stuffed french toast or the blueberry pancakes the size of your place and loaded with berries. If you read any nit picking negative reviews about this cafe disregard them for they... More

Cafe 222 has been the local dining institution for over 20-years in San Diego.
This quirky-corner eatery has become famous from it's many appearances on the
Food Network and for the owner who from time-to-time can be found wearing a waffle on her head.

This shoebox-size of a restaurant has plenty of seating, offers indoor, street side patio dining as well as an upper garden patio area. Dogs and kids are welcome with well-behaved parents.

Reservations are not accepted but if there is a wait to get in it moves quickly and the staff
passes out banana bread and coffee to those in line to make the wait more pleasant.
