Cafe Bassam has many choices in loose teas. The wait staff is very pleasant and helpful in the selection of the customer beverages. I enjoyed a Japanese green cherry tea. Unfortunately, they do not have any gluten-free snacks or desserts to go with the eclectic collection of coffees and teas. My other concern is the lack of comfortable seating for... More

My favorite spot in S.Diego/Hillcrest. Friendly staff, very good coffee and service. This place is always very quiet and relaxing, even when its busy.

I ordered 4 coffees, two were custom orders and they were very happy to accommodate my request. They were perfect!! The vibe of this shop was cool, had a lot of interesting paintings and art on the walls. I was sorry I wasn't going to have time to stop by in the evening; if I lived in San Diego I'd... More

The vibe of this place is very unique, casual, and somewhat intimate. The cafe has indoor and outdoor seating. The indoor seating appears a little cluttered but this adds to its 'antique shop' appearance. Antique valuables are placed in various parts of the cafe. Some of the music I've heard here reminds me of 1930s-40's Italian music (think of Luciana... More

Such a beautiful place to enjoy a great cup of coffee or tea. Limited food menu, but very tasty nonetheless! Take a book or your favorite friends and enjoy an afternoon drinking tea or coffee in an absolutely beautiful place.

Tons of plugs, tons of seating, super-fast wifi and great coffee and tea selections. We thought the food items were a bit pricey and there are no pastries, but other than that it's one of our favorite places to work/ hang in all of SD!

Cafe Bassam is the perfect spot to sit back relax, read a book, write your college thesis paper, or even just to sit in peace captivated by the vintage decor. I must suggest the ice white mocha is an absolute favorite of mine. And don't forget to ask for whipped cream with raspberry drizzled on top. Also near by about... More

The Turkey Sandwich here is just so good. Nothing extraordinary, but the brown bread is soft and big. The turkey is abundant and moist. There is just the right amount of cheese. The mustard and mayo are perfectly portioned. The tomato slices add subtle enhancement. Pickle and pepper on the side. Three small wedges of watermelon. Reminds you that a... More
