We had ribs, chicken, rolls, green salad, baked beans, and potatoe salad delivered for 35 people. The ribs were tender and very tasty. Chicken was good. For me the beans were too spicy, but tasted ok. The green salad was very yummy as were the provided dressings. The potatoe salad was AWESOME. The rolls were like rocks on the outside,... More

If you like BBQ you won't be disappointed by Phil's. It's good to know that when you first show up, it might seem like there's a huge wait time to be seated. But it's because you order and pay before sitting. Then head back up to the counter to pick up your order when it's ready. But even so, the... More

I won't say it's the best BBQ, it's the best BBQ I have personally ever had. Cooked to perfection, flavors and texture are always on point, lines are long, but move quick, food comes out hot, and fast. Toro and the baby back ribs are personal favorites. Love the potato salad. Place never disappoints. Oh and did I mention the... More

My wife and I, along with another couple, had a tremendous dinner at Phil's. It was our first visit and the couple we were with had been there several times before. Excellent food and atmosphere.

Phil's ribs are the best. A retired Navy guy I have eaten good ribs around the country. These are as good as any and better than most. And the price of their food is quite reasonable. Well worth a visit. Both locations, Point Loma and Ranch Bernardo are comfortable venues too.

Us Aussies know how to chuck a snag on the barbie, our Bunning sausage sizzle is famous everywhere, but for a real BBQ the Americans have it mastered. This is my first BBQ place in the states and won't be my last. Beautiful ribs, meaty and tender. Moist flavoursome chicken and really great tasting Link Sausages. Phil's BBQ is a... More

This place is the best !! We always stop here at least once during our vacations to San Diego from Phoenix !! Everything is yummy from the pulled pork, ribs, and chicken. Huge portions. The kids get the little ticklers of chicken or ribs. Last time, I got French fries covered in pulled pork and sauce. This is a new... More

For BBQ lovers, the best. Lines could be long, but worth the wait for meat lovers. Fun place to go with family or friends. Even a veggyburger or a nice salad for us non meat eaters.

After 25 years living in San Diego I tried Phil's BBQ for the first time at their new location in Rancho Bernardo, there is great variety in BBQed meats, great side dishes, I tried the sausage sandwich and it great, piled up with a lot of fixings and I'll recommended for a fast lunch. The beers list was tempting but... More

I rarely eat meat, but being from Texas there was a lot going around. I didn't have high expectations because CA isn't known for BBQ and I was wrong. This place had delicious ribs, sauce and beer selections. Take your visiting relatives and friends from BBQ states and they will be impressed.

Thank Raquel L

For the past 17 years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite-grilled baby back ribs, beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness, and friendly service. "We thrive on providing each guest with the 'Phil's Experience', which basically comes down to organized chaos," laughs owner Phil Pace. "The biggest reason behind our success is our loyal customers who have supported us and waited in line for a taste of BBQ for the past fifteen years. "Since opening its doors in San Diego in 1998, Phil's BBQ has served over one million pounds of BBQ sauce (enough to fill Shamu's tank).
