Was staying across the street and decided to try it. Big fan of Famous Dave's but this place was even better! Great service, too!!

We were all in the mood for some ribs so we drove to Phil's. The place was extremely crowded, since we were a party of twelve plus a stroller we were seated in a closed room with no windows and we could said it smelled weird. The food was average, for the best was the barbecue chicken, even though I... More

If you want tasty meaty spare ribs this is the best place in San Diego County. They offer a very good value as well. I wish they would smoke their ribs, oh well! still very good.

I had a great experience at Phil's. Everything was fresh and the staff was excellent. I had the beef ribs with fries and coleslaw and my friend had the pork ribs with mac salad and baked beans. Our order arrived quickly and the portions were huge. Phil's is a must when you're in SD.

The ribs were cooked to perfection. Falling off the bone. There was a short line to order then my food was ready within 10 minutes. This place would be great for family dinners

Phil's is an institution in San Diego, partly because of philanthropy, but mostly because of their emphasis on everything you can think of good about a quality BBQ restaurant. Give it a try.. often.

Not an expert in BBQ ribs, but these are very good. The only problem is that there was a lot of waiting to get in; probably because the food is so good. An order is more than enough to satisfy an above average hunger. You can pull the meat out from the rib vary easy. You gotta use both of... More

But that's OK. Real BBQ is smoked, this isn't. That said, the food is real good, the prices inexpensive, the beer is cold and the place is hoppin' Avoid the busiest times please

I went there, because there was a long line of SDians standing line and I must say: the baby pork ribs are the second best I ever had (the sauce is quite average), the french fries spectacular for US dining - but the table manners are shocking. It is a self service restaurant - without the afterwards cleaning. So you... More

For the past 17 years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite-grilled baby back ribs, beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness, and friendly service. "We thrive on providing each guest with the 'Phil's Experience', which basically comes down to organized chaos," laughs owner Phil Pace. "The biggest reason behind our success is our loyal customers who have supported us and waited in line for a taste of BBQ for the past fifteen years. "Since opening its doors in San Diego in 1998, Phil's BBQ has served over one million pounds of BBQ sauce (enough to fill Shamu's tank).
