Very tender and juicy ribs here at Phil's, with a sticky and sweet sauce to go with it. Might be best to go during lunch times as the crowd is quite manageable.

Have gone so many times to Phil's BBQ at the Sports Arena before a San Diego Gulls Hockey game, and the taste , quality, and service never changes. It is the best ! before a Gulls game you have to get there early as the restaurant starts filling up . About an hour before the hockey game there is a... More

Great sports bar in downtown San Diego with good food and plenty of televisions to watch the games. Great place to people watch the world go by with the open air atmosphere.

Don't let the long lines discourage you as they move fast. You can call ahead for take out as well. The ribs are the slow cooked with their own sauce and are juicy and tender. These are not dry rubbed ribs which can also be delicious. One rib dinner is enough for two normal eaters to share. Beef ribs are... More

The restaurant is nice, kind of like an upmarket fast food outlet serving ribs and bbq meats. You place your order at the counter and then find a table and wait for your number to be called. The food was really tasty, and the staff were friendly. I probably wouldn't wait in line for this again (we waited for over... More

The restaurant is nice the Staff friendly, The food is quite Comercial, the ribs are good that's it, the BBQ chicken pieces was on the raw side not good, the beef rib was average. If this place was in Texas, Louisiana or Kansas would be like a fast food joint.

On a cold wet Sunday we lined up with what felt like half on San Diego at Phil's. Fortunately most were in the takeout line, so the wait was OK. Being newbees we were handed our 1st visit stickers, guided as to ordering, where to find our drinks, finding a table, and how our food gets to our table. Everything... More

Not much else I can say! The title says it all. We've been coming to Phil's BBQ since it opened in a tiny space in Mission Hills. They now have over 5000 ft.² in the Sports Arena area. We always get the Broham Sandwich with a side order of Onion Rings. You can't go wrong!!

Spent 40 minutes in the que to get into this restaurant. Groups behind us spent over an hour in que. In the future I would not stand in line again. I'd try ordering "take out" and picking it up at the restaurant.

Our large group chose to go to Phil's for a dinner. There is a separate dinner facility down from the main restaurant with a bar and then buffet style. There were a lot of people waiting to get into the restaurant so I was thinking it would be really good. I was wrong. We had BBQ Chicken, BBQ Ribs, cole... More

For the past 17 years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite-grilled baby back ribs, beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness, and friendly service. "We thrive on providing each guest with the 'Phil's Experience', which basically comes down to organized chaos," laughs owner Phil Pace. "The biggest reason behind our success is our loyal customers who have supported us and waited in line for a taste of BBQ for the past fifteen years. "Since opening its doors in San Diego in 1998, Phil's BBQ has served over one million pounds of BBQ sauce (enough to fill Shamu's tank).
