When we walked up to this place we could see it was a great place to eat there were people queuing put the door to eat there. After a 20 minute wait the lady explained how it worked there every easy and very reasonable. The food was amazing the best BBQ I've ever eaten and lots of it! The staff... More

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful- we never waited very long for anything! The BBQ was hands down the BEST I've had in SoCal. We had the beef ribs, chicken, and sausage with onion rings, french fries, and coleslaw... all were very tasty and the meat was juicy and tender. The portions were HUGE! One plate was enough... We eat at Phils in the ballpark when we go to the Padres games. It is consistently delicious. They have 'service' down to a science. They are fast. I like that there are lots of napkins, paper towels and wipes to get the yummy sauce off of fingers and hands.

Great service, even in the Bar area. A bit of a wait but worth the time! The smell of the BBQ will hit you first, then you will have to decide ! Everything is great right down to the onion rings!!

The food here is fantastic. Do not leave without trying their macaroni salad. The sauce is so good it is the only thing I use on my own home BBQ.

Firstly can I say there is nothing wrong per se with this restaurant. Food is fresh, atmosphere is fab and staff are brilliant. Seriously you should go there... but there is a but to this. I found the sauce on the food a bit much, in fact I found the whole thing a bit much. The portions are so big... More

I first walked in and was a bit overwhelmed. I thought we would be seated traditionally and given a menu. So funny. You stand in line, look at the menu board and order, then you find a table yourself. It's actually a quite fun experience. The service was excellent. When you first come in they ask you if it's you're... More

For the past 17 years, BBQ lovers across San Diego County have turned to restaurateur Phil Pace to satisfy a singular craving: mesquite-grilled baby back ribs, beef ribs, chicken and sandwiches. Serving thousands of customers a day from a diverse clientele of skateboarders to Bentleys, Phil has built his foundation on consistency, quality, freshness, and friendly service. "We thrive on providing each guest with the 'Phil's Experience', which basically comes down to organized chaos," laughs owner Phil Pace. "The biggest reason behind our success is our loyal customers who have supported us and waited in line for a taste of BBQ for the past fifteen years. "Since opening its doors in San Diego in 1998, Phil's BBQ has served over one million pounds of BBQ sauce (enough to fill Shamu's tank).
