Our annual stop at Big Kitchen has completed the trip with a wonderful food memory. This neighborhood gem has made me happy with excellent food, relaxed atmosphere, and delightful service staff.

Big Kitchen is a South Park institution. Owner Judy has created the most atmospheric of spots. Nooks & crannies packed with tables. Every inch of wall is covered with a history lesson of photos, paintings, and mementos. Friendly, neighborhood staff. Large portions of tasty dishes. It's an experience to drive for.

Dropped in for a late breakfast. I had Rudy's Huevos Rancheros which was delicious and huge. No need to eat lunch. Hubby had eggs, bacon, and a huge pancake. He was very happy. Sitting around the counter were a few locals who started up a polite and fun conversation with everybody in the room. I love friendly places like this.... More

This place was a breakfast standby when I moved to San Diego 22 years ago, and it's still going strong, having survived the neighborhood's transition from edgy to hip and gentrified. It still has its hippie vibe, but the hipsters love it as much as their parents did, with huge delicious breakfasts served with a smile. The dining room has... More

Awesome huevos rancheros. Sat at a plastic table outside. Not the greatest atmosphere but it was fine. Nice breakfast menu.

Food taste great, portions are HUGE, well priced also. This is the food from my child hood (*late 60's early 70's). I would recommend this if you enjoy home cooked type meals.

Well, here I am again. Perhaps you will see a pattern to my reviews-- A lot of excellence. Well, mom always said to only say things that benefited all concerned... and also, why bother writing about something unless it is something you want to remember and share with others. The owner, Judy "the beauty on duty", has been in San... More

Casual, eclectic restaurant with great Sunday brunch. Weekend jazz musician entertains guests on front sidewalk. Tables on back patio are quiet. Funky little South Park neighborhood in San Diego.

My uncle lives in South Park and I make it a habit to eat at Big Kitchen when I visit. They offer a great brunch menu and have outdoor patio seating as well. A lot of locals love this place and for good reason! The food is delicious and the service is friendly. I love the mexican style omelet served... More
