I came here with my family. We had twenty people and luckily found seating before the rush. This place is packed at lunch time and I understand why. Excellent food at a reasonable price. Homemade tortillas too:) I had a carne asada taco. Excellent flavor. We will be back.

Enjoyed the restaurant but wasn't living up to the immense hype that we received before going there.

Two of us had a delicious Mexican lunch here in early December. Everything is cooked to order using fresh ingredients. It all tasted delicious. You'll wait a few minutes for your food during the lunch rush, but it is worth it. Go eat and enjoy!

Have driven by and have heard much about this place so decided to try them out. Was not disappointed at all, They make thier own tortillas and thier food is very fresh and great flavor. Mostly take out, but some indoor seating. Great Mexican food and menu and worth the visit.

Stopped in here today because of the diners dives and drive-ins episode. This restaurant is close to my hotel so I thought I would give it a shot. This place is very authentic and it is an icon to the San Diego area. I've had a lot of Mexican food all across the country this food was good. I had... More

A must stop when flying into San Diego! Straight from the airport to El Indio. Carne Asada was ecellent and of course had to have the mini morditas!

Came recommended by a local. The service was very poor. The cashier was unhelpful, unfriendly, and short on patience. We bought a bag of their chips to eat with their salsa and they were thick and flavorless. I had tamales that were all masa and little meat. The fish taco was okay. The pork carnitas were dry and extremely salty.... More

Stopped here on the way from San Diego to Huntington Beach. We ordered a beef burrito, tamale & tacos. Food was great.

El Indio was recommended by a friend and it did not disappoint! So good! Awesome homemade tortilla chips and salsa. Tacos were huge! Super reasonably priced! We got there around 11am on a weekday and by the time we left, the line was out the door! It's really close to the airport so a great stop either coming or going... More

Atmosphere is cool. Food is very average. We wanted to taste some local fare. This restaurant was recommended by a friend. Did not live up to the hype.
