I've been going to this restaurant since it was a "hole in the wall" back in the 1960's! I do think it was better back then, but it's still pretty great! You can't go wrong with the taquito plate, #7A. You get 4 taquitos loaded with lettuce/tomatoes/cheese, and a huge portion of refried beans and rice, with El Indio's famous... More

We arrived a group of 4 friend for a dinner. Make reservations before. The waitress was super nice, and even let us the happy hour deal although we were 5-10 minutes late. Margaritas were great and the food good.

I usually do not like tacos. But when I came here, I was very surprised. The taco shells are not greasy at all. The salsa is very fresh, and so is the guacamole. The workers there are very nice, and they are very patient when you have questions or if you are still deciding on what you are going to... More

Food here is excellent but a little over priced. I find it absolutely worth the price for the delicious food. The place is a tortilla factory so freshness is always the status quo. Try the tamales! each kind has a different sauce to accompany it, delicious. want something a little different try the morditas witch are rolled tacos cut up... More

Great lunch with my family wide variety of entrees to choose from at a San Diego classic. Tried the Mordidas with pork, first time really a fun dish. Carne Asada tacos, chicken tacos, were some other choices as well. All prepared nicely and done in a prompt manner. Really enjoyed our meal and certainly will go there again.

My husband and I were traveling to San Diego with our grandson. I try to find a Mexican restaurant when we travel to areas that have a significant Hispanic population with the hope of getting great tasting food. El Indio did not disappoint. My husband is always skeptical of Mexican restaurants that aren't authentic but he was pleasantly surprised. It's... More

Stopped here on a Saturday morning for shrimp enchiladas, which were out of this world. The shrimp are an estimated size 16, with a sizable chunk in every 1" bite. How does it get any better than that? This dish is served only on weekends. It's the only place I've seen where they have a ginormous machine making corn tacos...which... More

This is a great location for fast Mexican food. The shredded beef taco is delicious, but my highlight was the cheese enchilada. Their enchilada sauce is excellent. If you visit San Diego and you like Mexican food, make sure to stop by.

We were in San Diego for the wknd. On a recommendation we tried this place. My high hopes were let down. Between the 6 of us we ordered 3 fish tacos, two plates of taquitos, a bean burrito, a carnitas Burrito, some carnitas fries and some chips and Guacamole. $55 later we tossed 25% of the good. Ho-hum flavors. If... More

Nothing fancy. Just quality Mexican food for little money. I had a wonderful carne asada burrito for $7.19. $7.19!!!!!!! The burrito was huge, so much so that I did not finish, and I weight 200. Self service, order queue, then get your sauce and you are ready to go.
