High Expectations, always rewarded! After almost three generations, you can count on Anthony's. Very pricy and very rewarding. It does not matter much what you order.. friendly staff, beautiful views of the bay, fresh and excellent food, professionally prepared. San Diego is renown for local fish, but fresh frozen on the factory ships is just as good these days. My... More

This was a nostalgic lunch visit to a 70-year-old San Diego wharf mainstay restaurant. They have lost their lease for the location and will permanently close January 31, 2017. Many of the things that made this a great place are still there: friendly staff, good service and an amazing view of the San Diego harbor. Unfortunately, the food did not... More

Fresh seafood, enjoy your meal at a table by the water. Large portions, good service, try the battered fish & shrimp, delicious!

I did a review from May that talked about the outside area of this place not the inside. Which I went to both. The inside of the restaurant was nice with bay views. Food was great. Service was good. I would highly recommend it.

Well we came to enjoy a dinner after attending the Spirits Festival. We had the stuffed MUSHROOM - not that great; the shrimp scampi / mediocre -and the muscles were not HOT, not even worth dipping bread in. SAD SAD SAD.

The service is the best. Beautiful view over a little man-made lake. Great ambience. There are some nice outside tables also but inside tables have great view. We've been going here for many many years. They have a nice light-eaters menu. I especially enjoy the trout. This location out of business but we go to the La Mesa, CA location... More

Stayed across the street at the Wyndham Bayside so thought we would try it ! It was very busy but not much wait time. Also has a short order side to take with you or sit outside . Very good fish and large variety to choose from.

You can't go wrong for eating spots in San Diego and this one was spot on. Right on the waterfront and a little more expensive than the usual restaurant but on balance worth it. Clam chowder to start for all of us, then crab salad, seafood combo and shrimp pasta for mains, all washed down with as much home made... More

This was service with a smile AND great food! The menu had something for everyone in our family dinner party - from a large Salmon Rueben (yummm!) to seafood salads to my seafood sampler - halibut, salmon and flounder - blackenend with aspargus and mashed red potatoes - delicious and fresh! We made a reservation and got seated at a... More

Dear Bren: "it's been there for a while for a reason" is a most wonderful comment, thank you! We are celebrating our 70th and last anniversary on San Diego's waterfront as the Port of San Diego is kicking us out of our historic location. We will strive to serve our valued guests with the freshest seafood and attentive service until... More

Description
Anthony's Fish Grotto's was established in 1946 by Mama Catherine Ghio. It set and continues to set the standard for fresh seafood dining in San Diego. Mama believed in letting the freshness show through and not using overwrought and fussy preparations. Fresh seafood simply prepared.
The waterfront Anthony's sits atop piling over San Diego Bay. The views and sunsets are spectacular. The large dining room can accommodate families and large groups and the Lounge/bar area is perfect for that more intimate dining experience.
The menu features an array of seasonal fresh catches along with a multitude of favorites from Fish n Chips to Lobster Tails. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are available.
