We try to visit this restaurant every time we come to SD. I had the prawns and deep fried cod combination with loaded baked potato and their fabulous cream cole slaw with pineapple dressing. My wife just had the prawns. The food was outstanding as was the service. It is a bit on the pricey side $51 for 2 with... More

This was just what we needed after a long day walking around the seafront and visiting the USS Midway. From the moment we walked in the staff were so friendly and helpful... The food was great and the views are amazing. I would highly recommend a visit, although I hear that its sadly closing down.

I went because they are closing down at the end of the year and it was across the street from the Wyndham and it was raining. That about says it all. I had a bowl of Clam Chowder which could have been Potato Chowder. For the price of the main course a table cloth would have been nice.

Dear Jennifer: Thank you for dining with us. Sorry you didn't enjoy our award winning chowder. With the rising cost of seafood and labor, adding additional cost to the meal for table cloths didn't seem in our guests best interest, especially when they spend most of their time gazing at our glorious bay view. We try to make dining out... More

Whenever we are in San Diego we make it a point to eat here. Been coming for many, many years. We take at least 3 motorcycle trips to San Diego for pleasure and if we don't go to Anthony's it would make these trips incomplete. Always a fabulous meal and have never left there hungry.

Have been eating at Anthony's since I was a teenager. It has always been excellent. The fried shrimp dinner I had this week was perfect, so was the "red" clam chowder. The shrimp and fries were crispy, not greasy. The shrimp were sweet and plump. I am disappointed they are closing in 2017.

Location of the place is amazing. Fresh seafood. I had a chicken breast and was delicious. Draft beers. Place is quite popular but despite of it the waitstaff is making great job. Must be in San Diego

Dear Nicola: thank you for the wonderful comments and choosing to dine at Anthony's. We do try to take care of our non-seafood eating guests by featuring the wonderful Chicken Picatta on penne pasta that you enjoyed along with a tender Filet Mignon and Top Sirloin. Thanks again for dining with us. Regards. More

I travel to the area often and for a nice dining experience I recommend Anthony's. It works well for a nice quiet dinner with the wife, or for entertaining clients with a classy meal.

We had time to waste before our dinner cruise and decided to come in for a cocktail. The service was extremely slow tho not busy. When we finally got our drinks we had to hurry even tho we originally had an hour to spare. That said, I remember my family visited me from Indiana in 1966 while I was attending... More

George: Sorry to read that the service was a bit slow, there is no excuse for inattentiveness. I'll certainly look into. On the positive side it's nice to read that Anthony's brings back such positive memories. Yes the location is the same, we're celebrating over 50 years at this location and 70 years on San Diego's waterfront. Regards. More

To start out the location is amazing, you literally feel like you're in the bay as you look out the windows to see sailboats going by. Fine dining at it's best and an amazing menu featuring fresh local seafood. A very attentive waitstaff made for a wonderful evening dinner.

Anthony's Fish Grotto's was established in 1946 by Mama Catherine Ghio. It set and continues to set the standard for fresh seafood dining in San Diego. Mama believed in letting the freshness show through and not using overwrought and fussy preparations. Fresh seafood simply prepared.
The waterfront Anthony's sits atop piling over San Diego Bay. The views and sunsets are spectacular. The large dining room can accommodate families and large groups and the Lounge/bar area is perfect for that more intimate dining experience.
The menu features an array of seasonal fresh catches along with a multitude of favorites from Fish n Chips to Lobster Tails. Vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options are available.
