This place is just a great, friendly local diner. We were visiting, but most everyone else were locals. I had the Baja omelette- stuffed with cheese and carne asada. The house made salsa was fresh, spicy and perfect. Prices are reasonable and they have $3.50 mimosa and Bloody Mary specials all weekend. Service was efficient and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed... Four stars for a bistro is obviously different than 4 stars for upscale dining. This place serves good to very good food that is not grand gourmet but satisfying. It's super convenient to Symphony Hall and not too far from the Civic Center Auditorium, the Balboa Theatre, and Spreckels Theater. You can park in the Procopio building garage across the... More

Only stopped in to sit down for a while, have some drinks and some dessert. I was very surprised at how attentive the staff is and the owner greeted us right away with recommendations. It is very cozy and friendly inside and the bread pudding was very good. We noticed that a lot of people had made reservations as they... More

We wandered around the Gas Light district looking for a quick bite to eat in a reasonably priced restaurant. Most places were priced in the $30-$50 range. We came across the Sixth Avenue Bistro and went in to eat. The service was excellent, the food was OK, and the prices were low enough.

Neighborhood place where we were made to feel welcome. Several locals stopped in to have dinner and drinks, obviously comfortable with the surroundings and limited menu. Well prepared food, especially mussel and beef dishes, decent wine selection. Reasonable value; adult ambiance with regular menu supplemented with daily specials. They go out of their way to please: for example the kitchen... More

Cute little patio. Great local place. Reasonable prices. Near Holiday Inn Express. Good spot to have a drink and people watch. Friendly staff. We didn't have much to eat but the food was good.

And very good menu with many items to choose from. Every one had something different and not one complaint. Prices are fair, you can sit inside... More

We're slowly crossing off the many restaurants and bars within walking distance of our new place, so that was our main motivation in choosing Sixth Avenue Bistro for breakfast this past weekend. Well...that, and we wanted a decent, hearty breakfast. My husband has long lamented the fact that we're short on really good Cajun/Creole restaurants in our city. This restaurants... More
