This is a gem in an not-upscale neighborhood. Today we had lunch - a chopped salad and a chicken bowl. Both were worthy of a repeat visit. However, there are so many interesting and tempting menu items I hate think I'd miss out on another delicious option. The service was perfect - promo and pleasant and accurate. What else can... More
After hearing from friends, family and colleagues how GOOD Terra's food is, we decided to sample it ourselves. We walked over from La Mesa Village and sat down to what turned out to be one of the better meals we've had in a long time! Ellie our server was super-helpful with menu and wine suggestions. We started with Matzo ball... More
The seasoning of the blackening was delicious. Although my salmon a sizable thick filet was raw in the middle and this mushiness clashed with the outer shell. A traditional Ceasar has anchovies which were missing, and croutons, which were substituded with a sourdough crostini. I found the sourdough crostini to be a bit stale and had it been cubed and... I started with a Thai Margarita, and I was NOT disappointed. It was delish. Dinner was a flat-iron steak. One of the other diners also ordered the same, but the wait staff delivered my brother-in-law's 'medium' steak to me, and my lovely 'mid-rare' steak to him. I'm pretty sure he enjoyed dinner more than I did b/c I was not... More
From the 1st time ever we wondered into Terra, we have continued to enjoy Jeff's food selections, in two locations Hillcrest & now in LaMesa, college district. He always uses fresh local produce in his selections You will never get a bad item in his restaurant - this was a price fixed Valentines dinner and we were, as always, pleased... More
We went for brunch on a Sunday. Menu items are an interesting twist on what you would expect for brunch, and all items ordered were good. Nice plus is that the brunch menu items each include three glasses of champagne or mimosa. Considering that, the brunch menu cost is a steal! Very good service from our waiter, kept the champagne... We were there on a quiet Sunday night while the chef/owner was working the room. This is a relatively small, farm to table place that has gotten great reviews in the San Diego/La Meas area. Very solid menu, enough variety but not so much that mediocre fare is allowed. Creative cocktails, friendly service, good options for vegetarians/vegans.
A nice and modern place, you can see an effort was made to both the decor and the food, but still there is something missing in the taste. My food was well presented, a modern twist, but I had a good burger joint taste in my mouth. I tried the fried calamari, eaten without dipping sauce they had no flavour,... More
