I dined here twice, once for lunch and once for dinner, experiencing two very different meals. Both times I ordered the prix fixe. For lunch service was slow and sloppy. I was two bites in The appetizer when the entree was brought out. The salad was way over dressed and soggy. Overall the meal was unpleasant. Dinner the night before... More

My husband and I meet for dinner and drinks with a business associate and his wife every time a conference brings us to San Diego. The serene marina front atmosphere, complete with fires lighted when the chill sets in is so perfect (we much prefer the outside seating). The conference itself is pretty intense for us Midwestern folk (think, "BUY!...SELL!..NOW!").... More

I dined at Roys last week when I was in town with some friends. Two of us were gluten and soy free, one was normal dining :-) First, while there are a lot of menu options, there are only a handful of gluten free options. I am always surprised by the lack of gf options in a $$$ establishment. I... More

This was my first time in San Diego and I wanted to treat my wife to a romantic dinner. Roy's did not disappoint. We were greeted by a kind sophisticated host and seated by a window view of the marina. It was right about sunset so the stage was set for a wonderful dinner. Our waiter was young, funny and... $133 for two on a very average meal. Over priced for the quality. TripAdvisor needs to get the pricing right. We had steaks. Wife's filet mignon was okay. My $42 ribeye was not as good as an Outback steak. We were seated at a table with a vent blowing cold air directly on us and our food. It was so... More

Not the least expensive restaurant on the waterfront, but well worth the price. Everything from the sushi to the steak was amazing. Can't think of anything at all that could be improved! Despite being very busy, service was excellent. A great restaurant to visit, whether you're staying at the Marriot or not.

It was a great evening in San Diego, we went to dinner with friends and the weather was great. We sat outside at Roy's, the service was great and the food was better. There was eleven of us so we hit a verity of foods, no one at our table had a complaint. It was a great evening, I would... More

We have enjoyed Roy's both on the mainland and in Hawaii many times over the past 20 years or so. Our family of 10 enjoyed a dinner celebrating our 50th Anniversary which was arranged by our daughter. The service was great and the food was delicious as always. Due to a party of 123 that were seated ahead of us... More

My husband and I have been to the Roy's in La Jolla on several occasions, but tonight was our first visit to this location. The service was lovely as was the view, but it was definitely the food that will bring us back here. Although I'm sure they are using the same recipes at both sites, both my husband and... More

$350 for a family of 4 adults and 2 children is quite expensive. (only 3 drinks) Had to send back two steaks (overcooked) and after we enjoyed the food in Hawaii so much we were very, very disappointed.

Thank Fred G
