In a way, this is an old and very good memory because I used to eat here when I was racing. It was lively and fun. We went back and were happy to find the food good, service very good and had a fun time. A nice location near Point Loma and the harbor.

I've always said that Starbucks is a coffee house for people who don't really like coffee. It's the only explanation I can think when people need to cover their coffee with layers of cream, caramel and other flavors that bury the taste of the coffee. Starbucks also dose not need to distinguish between different varietals because the differences can't be... More

First impressions are everything. We arrived at about 4:50 pm. We were told to seat ourselves in the area to the left so we reluctantly did and a lady brought over the bar menu. I questioned if that was the full menu and she said no, there is also a dinner menu in the dining room. I asked why we... More

This is part of a chain in the San Diego area. This one is near Point Loma and the San Diego Sportfishing Landings. I have only eaten at this one. Bar menu is great, try the Fried Calamari and the Swordfish Tacos. Plenty of great drink deals in happy hour and a large selection of draft beers, try the Pacifico.... More

Although the ambience and restaurant itself was nice, it served too much food. Half a chicken is just too much for a person to eat. I wasn't that happy with my meal or my choices.

The food is nothing much, but the fish tacos are good. The drinks are well priced. La Playa can range from dead to rat-packed given day, time and weather so this is a good consistent choice.

The setting is nice, but the service paired with the average food gave this place the honor of 2 stars. The waiter totally cluless, in fact the hole staff seems they are hired for summer vacation and dont even need the job. Four times we asked for a glass of water while we waited patiently for the bottle of wine.... More

For starters we had some fresh oysters and the clam chowder. Oysters were great but the clam chowder was average and very buttery... For my meal I had ceviche and it was delicious. Be warned the portions here are fairly large and I could not finish my meal with an appetizer. Servers were very nice and great with suggestions but... More

I stumbled upon this place while staying at a hotel on Shelter Island and I cannot recommend it enough. Their fish tacos during happy hour are massive and you can't beat the price. Only issue is it gets very crowded during happy hour but that's only because it's so good.

I enjoyed several of the appetizers as my meal. The fresh seafood is a must. Don't skip. It was great.

A San Diego tradition since 1969, the Brigantine has received many accolades in our 40+ year history: "BEST SEAFOOD", "BEST CASUAL SEAFOOD", "BEST HAPPY HOUR", and even "BEST SWORDFISH IN THE WORLD", according to USA Today - just to name a few. Beautifully remodeled in early 2009, the Brigantine is well-known for the signature Clam Chowder, Grilled Swordfish, and Creme Brulee. The Brigantine is a favorite among locals for consistently fresh seafood, succulent steaks and grilled meats. Home to the America's Cup until 1995, Shelter Island is still the yachting center of San Diego. The Brigantine offers glimpses of this busy marina from the outdoor patio and semi-private banquet areas. The Point Loma Brigantine serves dinner 7 nights a week, and lunch Monday-Saturday.
