This is not a typical high end steakhouse and that's exactly the reason we enjoyed it so much. We had requested and were seated in one of their booths, and this would be highly recommended to enhance your experience. Our server Jeremy was both professional and knowledgeable. All the positive reviews about the the steak tartare are accurate. It was... More

A place that makes you want to have a steak! Just enough cowboy; not overdone. Impeccable service, superb filet mignon and and ribeye steak actually medium rare as requested, excellent wine list too. Sorry, we did not have room for dessert

My boyfriend took me here for an early Valentines dinner. So amazing!! The food was outstanding, the service was fantastic. We got lucky and got the sweethearts booth by the fire - so nice and added to an already amazing night!! We got the creme brûlée for dessert - yum!!! A perfect ending to a wonderful meal!!

I went here with very high expectations, based on the recommendation of a friend. While the service was excellent, the food was average. Although I didn't go for the $100 or $200 Wagu steaks, I figured the recommended ribeye would still be great. The steak was well-cooked, but didn't have a lot of flavor, and was overly fatty. Everyone in... More

We went to Cowboy Star for dinner last time for the first time, the service was great, the food amazing and very cute place. I had the Wagu flank steak which was off the charts which I ordered all veggies instead of veggies/starch. The most amazing steak. I also ordered the caesar salad which I really enjoyed. We had the... More

I went for the heirloom carrots followed by the Dry-Aged ribeye. The balance of flavor was outstanding, in both dishes, and I cannot fault a thing. Leave room for the sides as they too are something special. Don't think twice about going.

Best steakhouse in Gaslamp area, on 10th Ave, reservations suggested. Wonderful selection of meat and seafood, top quality & service! Top shelf scotch, booze and wine selection. Save room for desert!

This was my second special occasion trip to Cowboy Star. They never disappoint! My wife and I both had the 8 oz Filet. It was wonderful, cooked perfectly. The kitchen staff catered to my wife's diary allergy which was fantastic. The steak tartare appetizer is an absolute must. Hogan's Mule to drink; bartender did a great job. Ants on a... More

Very nice steak restaurant for fine dining. Very knowledgable waitstaff. Also a few selections of non steak items like seafood and duck. Decor is modern Western mixed with the classic Hollywood Westerns.
