While most of the food was adequate, this place disappointed in many ways. The waiter repeatedly and persistently tried to sell us things we did not want. However, he did not listen to our questions and requests. And to share a steak among two people...they charged an extra 10$, only to serve it cold, and on a cold plate. The place is a rip off, as commented by many reviewers. Not recommended.More

We went to Osetra because it was close to our hotel and the menu looked inviting. The service was very good. However the food was lacking in any kind of signature taste. Osetra specializes in seafood. Indeed the bar displays all species of shell fish...ready to jump into a pot. We ordered the salmon and the sword fish. There was really nothing special about either. There was, of course, a fish flavor, but nothing else that would resonate in the palate. Most of the crowd was enjoying various types of oyster shots and shellfish starters. They seemed happy with their orders, but more taste is expected from seafaring entrees.More

“Baby it’s cold outside” is exactly what you will be saying if I ever take my wife here again. It was way overpriced, the steak was chewy, under cooked and sent back twice, the staff doesn’t have enough common sense to think that the sides...would be cold after waiting for the steak so of course they microwaved them. The bread was a buyout cheap bread and the Diet Coke came out different every time (flat or too much carbonation). Our waiter disappeared and we had to constantly be getting other waiters to try and help but they would disappear as well. What a dive.More

So I have been trying to get to an Oyster Happy Hour for like 2 years - yes I have kids and it is hard to get out for Happy Hour! We finally made it to Osetra. We got 2 dozen oysters and I had...a glass of yummy and nicely chilled sauvignon blanc to wash them down. Oysters were great. Yes you have to be careful not to eat pieces of shell when eating raw oysters but all mine were fresh and tasty and the cocktail sauce was tasty and there was plenty of horseradish to go with it. For $1 oysters it was perfect!More

Simple but beautiful decor. The noise level was great! Not too noisy. The service was fabulous. Never had to wait for refills of water. This is a white table restaurant and is expensive. The appetizers were very good. Had the octopus and shrimp cocktail. Beautiful...presentation. The seafood combo for dinner was excellent. Our server , Andrew was very professional and friendly. Right in the downtown area, in the gas lamp area, very convenient within walking distance from the hotel ( courtyard downtown).More

Osetra was recommended to us by the hotel concierge. We wanted to go some place that was local. The location was great for where we were staying (The Westin Gaslamp Disctrict). We were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was attentive and explained the specials...to us. The only mishap was that we ordered an appetizer and we never recieved it. That ended up being a good thing though because the portions were large and we would not have had enough room to enjoy our main courses.More

I do not know how you feel if you are asked to pay the bill with them rejecting them to have the bill itemized. Food medium and service super slow trying to sell the most pricy items.

I attended a dinner with 20 people and at the time of the invite indicated that I needed a vegetarian meal. When I attended the dinner they said I could not have a vegetarian meal as the menu had been preset for the group and...there was no vegetarian option. They were very unaccommodating. The wait staff also cleared peoples plates before they were done eating. And at the end of the meal when I wanted an Earl Grey tea or mint tea they had neither.More

Went here based on Y reviews and was disappointed. The $1 oysters for Happy Hour were not the freshest. None had the liquid brine you want with the oyster, which ironically they used a Hemingway quote to emphasize its essentialness. More than a few also...came with the oyster shell bed quite discolored. Fortunately, we did not get sick but we certainly did not enjoy the oysters the way Hemingway said they should be enjoyed. Other offerings like crab cakes and fish tacos were ok; they were happy hour portions for happy hour prices. Not real value. What saved the day was the excellent service and the clams and mussels. This dish was like a real appetizer serving and a good Happy Hour value at $10.More

Very nice food, waiters are very informative and knowledgable. Front of house needs to be worked on as they seem disorganised

The website says happy hour is from 4-6:30pm daily. They have a happy hour menu which you can only get at the bar or the high tops near the bar. If you sit in the dining room, you can’t do the happy hour specials.
