Tonight we went to Venice Pizza House and didn’t actually have pizza. They had a Dinner for 2 special this week which featured a choice of appetizer or salad, two main dishes and a dessert for a special price. We chose the small antipasto salad...for our starter and it didn’t disappoint. I’ve always loved Venice’s Italian dressing and it was clear that even though they have new owners that the recipes haven’t changed. For our mains we ordered the Lasagna and Chicken Parmesan dinners to split. The lasagna can be ordered with meat or veggies and we ordered with meat. It was absolutely delicious and the cheese and pasta practically melted in the mouth. The Chicken Parmesan featured two nice size pieces of chicken breast and was covered in cheese. I found it a little odd they didn’t give at least a side of spaghetti but there was so much food that it wasn’t really needed. Both meals came with garlic bread which was toasted perfectly. Last was dessert and we chose the Limoncello Cake which was moist and refreshing. We really enjoyed the entire meal. Inside the restaurant was slower than I remember from years ago when I’d dine here on Sundays but it’s possible it was just the night. We were greeted warmly when we arrived and our waiter was a young man who said his family owned the restaurant but that they still had the same cooks and nothing had changed. He was attentive and ensured we were taken care of throughout the meal. They had older sing along music on the radio and seemed to have quite a few carry outs while we were there. There is plenty of parking in back or you can try to grab street parking in front. I hope things will go well with the new owners because this restaurant has been a long time and has solid Italian food and pizzas.More

I bought a Groupon and it expires 11-19-2022. Went there tonight and was told new owners-refused to honor my Groupon. I explained there is no mention of new owners on the Website. I also explained there was no mention of no more groupons. Poor business...decision . It was rather empty and I wonder why. I have been going there for over 40 years and certainly will no be back anytime soon. I called the restaurant when I was told they would close August 31st and was told they ended up staying open. The end of an ERA.More

The Caprese Salad was nothing like the picture on the Groupon Ad. It also came w/a balsamic vinaigrette dressing instead of drizzled balsamic vinegar on top. Awful. When I asked the server for just balsamic vinegar, she had no idea what I was talking about....I had to explain the difference between what I wanted and what I was given. Funny side note: when the people across from us left, they stopped by our table and said he enjoyed my “class room instruction on balsamic vinegar; it was very good and funny.” The server was not experienced at all. No food knowledge. Sad. Also, I ordered the shrimp and scallop pasta, with the pink sauce. They had no scallops and no penne pasta. I changed it to all shrimp. It came w/a sauce that was very watery. They told me that when you mix the Alfredo and Marinara, it gets watery. I’m a cook… NO, and if it does, thicken it!!! My hubby ordered the Lasagna. He said it was nothing special, just ok. I told myself that it seems almost every time I get a Groupon for restaurants, it turns out badly. I’ll not be back to Venice Pizza House, and stay away from Groupon Restaurant offers.More

We have been coming here for the past 35 years. Always good authentic food. Staff is very nice. We like to order the lunch specials Mon-Fri from 11:00 to 3:00. Pizza is a little expensive but SO worth it. Salads are crisp and delicious (the...dressing is so good, we always use the garlic bread to sop it up). This is an authentic Italian pizza house with the home goodness you expect. PLEASE TRY THIS PLACE. YOU WILL BE HOOKED. : )More

Came back to visit with some family members, this place us still number One for a great affordable Italian meal. It’s been there for 60 years, same simple menu, good service, great menu for a family style meal. Do you order a “Greek salad” at...an Italian restaurant? Yes, this one was exceptional, tasty, fresh, wonderful cheese. Regular sized salad is $6, large size only $7, easy decision. Pizza is only offered in one size, medium, take it or leave it, and it’s superb ! Every single pizza offering is great, sausage snd pepperoni is a favorite, and their vegetarian pizza 🍕 is excellent. Cannot miss with any of them. Like a side order of a meatball in marinara sauce, , side of ravioli or lasagna? Just order it, and take home the left overs. Big portions for the money. Good garlic bread too. Their lunch menu Mon thru Friday is a great value and quite delicious. Not real busy , but good local crowd for lunch, service is quick. Family run over all these years, son now runs it and it hasn’t lost a beat. Not fancy, not trendy, just good Ike home style cooking, some parking in the rear lot. Just Go and enjoy yourself, I think they are closed on Mondays. Ciao.More

Family owned for at least 60 years (maybe longer). Pizza and other Italian dishes made the old fashioned way. Parking in back. I've been going here since I was a small child w/my parents. Give it a try...

Every time I visit San Diego I must order pizza here! Its fresh, authentic taste has made me a return customer. And that crust...Outstanding!!! The staff has always been friendly, whether I’m eating in or taking my order to go. And the price is very...reasonable considering how much food you get and the high quality. Looking forward to visiting again the next time I’m in town!More

The wait for pizza is awhile but, I really like the way its cooked and such thick crusted dough. The pineapple are fresh and the ham is smoking hot. And the tomato and the sauce is and have a fresh tomato sauce handmade. The pizza...is so hot that you have to let it cool down to eat it up so you don't burn your mouth. IUMore

After one bite of pizza, you can tell why this "pizza joint" has been around as long as it has. When I went to find this restaurant, I was very surprised that it was so low on the Trip Advisor list, then I realized that...is only has 37 reviews as of this date. I'm figuring that the locals want to keep their hidden "hole in the wall" gem a secret. I find the best food in "hole in the wall" restaurants. Venice isn't located downtown, so it's off the beaten track but if you're in the area look it up! I am a "pizza snob" and thoroughly enjoyed my pizza with pepperoni and sausage. The crust is medium - not thick pan, but not too thin. A good mix of sauce to cheese and plenty of toppings. My friends (who drive there monthly from out in East County) ordered the House Special. We also ordered the fried artichoke hearts as an appetizer. They only have one size pizza and we had leftovers (which heat up nicely and is just a good the next day.) We were there after the lunch crowd on a Friday and they only had one server, but she did a great job making sure that she checked in with each table. Will be going back the next time I'm in town, that's for sure!More

This little hole-in-the-wall has been around since 1954, serving fantastic Italian food. Cordon Bleu pizza: chicken, ham, swiss and parmesan cheeses, then ladle on some fresh, made-to-order alfredo sauce. Holy cow! Best pizza EVER. Family owned, great service, nice casual atmosphere. I don't know what...took me so long to try this place...my bad! It's wonderful. And you can order everything to go!More
