This is the only place I will eat a hamburger. Love the Downtown Burger with teriyaki mushrooms. Delish. Homemade buns, too.

This was our first time eating here and we were a bit disappointed at the experience. After being seated we waited a fair amount of time before anyone came to our table and asked about drinks or a food order. Then the wrong drink order...came. Our server showed a little later and took our order. When bringing it to the table a good part of it was wrong. We never saw our server after that until the meal was complete. She never came by for a refill on coffee and forgot to bring water. The food was just okay, the fries were not good and were under cooked. I doubt we'll be returning.More
Excellent customer service and great food! Annie's is always a great place to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. Reasonable prices & good food. The homemade pies are an excellent dessert choice!
I conducted a business luncheon with a client late on a Friday morning. Annie's now has breakfast on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday mornings. I've taken small groups here for breakfast and another client here for lunch because it's one of his favorites in Topeka. I...take great pride in my recommendations when groups and clients are involved and Annie's never disappointed. The breakfast menu isn't extensive but pretty much covers the gamut. I wasn't hungry and the 'lite' breakfast with an egg, bacon, and hashbrowns was exactly what I was looking for. We had the most pleasant waitress - Alyssa recognized the nature of our meeting and perfectly balanced being unobtrusive but timely in checking with us to make sure we didn't need anything. I don't believe they take reservations but with 3 dining rooms, they always find a suitable table or booth. I do however give them the courtesy ahead of time if I'm bringing in a group of 6-12 or more to assist in planning the staffing.More
I've not written many discouraging reviews, but my experience here was extremely disappointing. It seems like a lovely place and a local favorite; however, I won't be returning any time soon. We were greeted and seated right away, but everything went downhill from there. Our...server made it over, took our orders, and then we sat for an unreasonable amount of time waiting for a starter - the beer cheese and pretzels. This was actually yummy, though quite salty. Then when my tuna melt showed up, there was no cheese. That was odd. After sitting again for a while, we finally got the server's attention and sent it back for cheese. It arrived back in 10 seconds with a canned-like liquid cheese. I tried to eat it, even using the leftover beer cheese from the pretzel dip, but I couldn't do it. It took forever to get the server back as the fruit flies were now gathering around the food (salad and roll). Long story short after waiting a long time again and wanting to leave, the owner/manager came over when I stood up wanting to know what I didn't like. She told me the menu said it was a tuna and melted cheese sandwich...ok, had the menu said tuna with cheese sauce, I wouldn't have ordered it. Oh well. They did the right thing and took it off our bill. I'm still disappointed with the service since the server went to work in the bakery area prepping something and took forever to get us settled to leave. It wasn't super busy in there, thus I can't figure out the poor service. And fruit flies? None of the other restaurants we dined in had fruit flies, so it's not an environmental issue for Topeka. They won't care that I won't be back, but my friend is a local, and is now saying he won't be back either with his local family members.More
I enjoyed a blue cheese burger on a homemade bun that was wonderful. My wife had homemade chicken and noodles.
I've been to Annie's many times. I've had the quiche, salads, fries with gravy, meatloaf, and many other things. Everything was yummy and served at the appropriate temperature. The best thing I had though was the chicken gravy! Really good home-style cooking.
I went to Annie's Place and had Bun Bowl Chili. The bun was COLD like it was just out of the refrigerator and the Chili was, also, COLD/Dry/ and with little if any juice. Don't Order it! The server was scarce and when I checked...out I said nothing as she appeared she didn't care anyway. If I said something, I got the feeling her response would have been not very receptive or she wouldn't have heard it. It was a terrible experience and I was very disappointed with the dining experience. It was poor quality for the price.More
My wife and I went to Annie’s for the first and last time today. I ordered biscuits and gravy they were cold and tasted like flour my wife ordered two eggs and toast the waitress brought out two eggs and ham with hash browns. The...eggs and hash browns were over cooked and ice cold. The waitress was slow and not very bright. I would feed my dogs there food let alone myself and wife.More
Soup was great. Others had chili and said it was good too. This is always a clean quiet place for discussions with friends or business situations
After visiting our son, we needed a quick bite of lunch. It was 2pm on a Sunday so it wasn't crowded. We each had a bowl of soup & split a chicken quesadilla. It was good but the chicken was a little dry. We would...go back.More
Annie's has been in Topeka for decades and is a very good choice for good local "American" fare. Annie's has very good salads with several to choose from. Cobb salad is a good selection. Nice selection of sandwiches from grilled chicken, tuna or chicken salad,...BLT, grilled cheese to reubens and meatloaf sandwiches. A nice selection of home made soup by the cup or bowl. The chicken tortilla soup is tasty. Excellent hamburgers served on fresh baked buns. Burgers are always served with chips from a bag, so I suggest you order the Hot Air fries or sweet potato fries. The burgers are served medium well, so you need to tell them if you want your burger well done. The breakfast selections are reasonably priced and very good. Cinnamon rolls are large, but served with a overly sugary frosting, so all you taste is sweetness. You don't get a cinnamon taste which is what I order cinnamon rolls for, so I don't recommend them. Order something else. Lots of seating available. Wait staff is very friendly and attentive. Service is a little slow compared to the chain restaurants, but you know you are getting freshly made and cooked food.More
This is the place for a quiet, relaxing, down to earth American restaurant with great pies including 'no sugar added' varieties. Not sure why but they were closed a couple weeks ago, but great news for everyone, they are back and they are the same...great reliable place to eatMore
I went for lunch but they were closed. They failed to pay taxes and were actually seized and shut down by the state for failure to pay taxes. Why do they think they are above the law?
This place was recommended to me, and it was exactly what I thought it would be. The food was VERY bland with no flavor at all. It should always be a sign of how good the food is when you walk in on a Friday...at 12:15 and the restaurant is only 20% full. Save your money and go to the Wendy's across the lot. Although the prices were not bad the service was slow and the food was terrible. I had the chicken noodle soup and a grilled Cajun chicken sandwich and neither was worth eating.More
