The service was very good, and the food was very good as well. I had the Reuben, and we had some of the fried pickles as well. I look forward to trying some of the other options.

We really like little pubs/brewpubs and local places. A bit north of Topeka is Vikings a local bar and grill. So we went there for dinner. It’s located in a small strip shopping center. A large room banded with booths and tables in the middle....A pleasant, but not unique setting. My wife and I shared a fish and chips (actually everyone in our group ordered fish and chips). While the others had sweet potato fries, we had onion rings. We shared a side salad as well. All was good.More
I’ve been here twice with a friend recently and haven’t been disappointed yet. Spacious atmosphere, delicious food, and great service!
One of the few sit down restaurants in the North Topeka area. The food is decent. There's a few things worth passing on. The Chicken strips are just not great so if you like chicken strips you might be alittle disappointed. The wraps are good....If you like hamburgers then this place has one of the best ones around. If we do get out for drinks in the evenings, we've never had any bad nights at the Viking. Plenty of TVs for sports and what not. The service can sometimes be alittle slow. They might miss you coming in or not communicate that you're in someone's section. We have experienced that from time to time. Usually once they pick up that you're there though, it seems just fine for the rest of the experience.More
We have been here a few times for breakfast and the food is good. Simple standard breakfast menu. Odd thing is you can’t get one extra egg. They are sold in pairs. Also the service every time has been slow. The staff is inattentive. We...had to ask for menus after we sat down. Even though several staff members passed our table. Waitress asked if we wanted more coffee but never brought it. We had to ask for it from a different waitress. When we finally got our check she never came back. We had to go to the bar to pay our bill and there were 3 or 4 staff members there. Our waitress was rolling silverware.More
We were a group of 35 and stopped here for lunch. They gave us 3 options for food. Open face roast beef sandwich, cranberry salad, and a chicken shimmy changa. We had the roast beef and chicken. Both were very good. They had once server...for our group and she did a fantastic job. Most everyone had food left over because the size of the portions were large.More
With good reason, the Vikings is remarkably similar to The Landing in east Topeka. Both restaurants were originally established by the Reed brothers. The main dining areas are darkened for atmosphere, but the ambience is totally destroyed by the bad acoustics and noise level. Both...have lighted quieter meeting rooms that can be reserved with a returnable deposit. The Viking Meeting room is long and is suitable for large (~35-40 people) groups. Both restaurants are open for lunch and dinner, The menus are similar, but vary slightly. They serve in plentiful portions, and have a full service bar.More
The restaurant was very clean and the server was nice. I ordered the beef nachos though and the chips they make in house were very oily, some weren't even very crunchy and the beef had good flavor but it was also very greasy. The salsa...tasted weird. It had a weird tang to it. Kind of like if the tomatoes were going bad or there was hint of alcohol in it. I was bummed as I was looking forward to salsa. The jalapenos were from a can, not fresh. Their white cheese dip was pretty good though and they gave a lot of cheese with the nachos (which I ordered on the side). If someone invited us there again I would go but I would order something completely different and nothing that involved their homemade chips. My husband has been there before and after my visit he agreed that the tortilla chips are really greasy.More
This was the first time that I have been here since the place was remodeled. I loved the atmosphere and the roominess of the place. The appetizers that we ordered were fantastic. I liked the French Dip sandwich and the slaw. My wife thought the...meat was a bit too much like hamburger, though she loved the Sidewinder fries. The best thing on the menu is the homemade chicken and noodles on homemade mashed potatoes. This would be a good family place to go eat and the prices are pretty reasonable for a bar and grill. I definitely recommend itMore
