We noticed the Golden Dragon while eating at McDonald's across the street. When we returned for dinner hours later it was apparent the customer base was lacking. Therefore it is expensive to keep a buffet stocked because of wasting food. It is obviously family operated...and when the husband came out of the kitchen because he heard us talking to his wife, he politely said, "One moment, I'll bring out food." If he had not done that we probably would have left because the quality of the food sitting in the warmers was obviously not up to par. I understand how difficult it must be to build a customer base while running a buffet. Some of the food needed to be tossed before we ever entered. As in it was unquestionably past its prime. Nonetheless, he whipped up general tso's chicken, teriyaki chicken, and beef broccoli within minutes. The fried rice and white rice was standard fare, but the crab rangoon was excellent. I only grabbed a couple, but I wish I had just piled it on...it was good. I have no doubt that if more people used the buffet the quality would skyrocket. You can tell they are not lazy, they just need the customer base. Dinner during the week the buffet is like 6 bucks and on Sunday evening when we stopped in it was 9 for takeout. As in, you can stuff yourself for 6 bucks during the week...not bad.More

My favorite place for take out! They have good lunch specials daily, and a buffet. The menu is extensive and has some really unique dishes like Dragon and Phoenix and Broccoli Cheese. The staff is always friendly and there are perks that come with big...orders!More

The Golden Dragon is not a Topeka restaurant that I frequent. It was close to a friends work, so we met for a late lunch. We were seated promptly and the server soon brought our drinks to the table. The lunch buffet is very reasonably...priced and had many choices. The bill totaled $13 for two people. The only negative about our experience at Golden Dragon - was that it was buffet food! Average at best! If you enjoy a lot of mediocre food, reasonably priced, the Golden Dragon Restaurant would meet your needs.More

We used to get this to go every Sunday and take it home to eat. I changed jobs and it is out of the way so we hadn't eaten here for a few years. It was very obvious that the food was terrible compared to...what we were used to getting from here. Then I go online to find it was sold a few years back. We will NEVER eat there again, disgusting! We got 4 different things off the menu and all 4 were terrible. We threw it in the trash and fixed something else to eat.More

This restaurant was bought by a new owner, a couple of years ago, I have eaten at the Golden Dragon, for years, and the previous owners, were always very friendly and attentive-but I know businesses change hands, and I continued to go there. My first...visit, right after the new owners took over, was good, the second was ok. On my 3rd and 4th visits, I was seated, given my drinks, and the server 'Never came back to my table'! Not to ask how everything was, to see if I needed a refill on my drink (which I did), and not to see if I needed anything else! They were not even busy, either time. She was standing near their cash register, basically doing nothing at all. Even when I left, she looked at me, and did not even thank me for coming! Seriously!!! I will 'NEVER' go back!!!!!!!More

We walked in to rude kids about 8 yrs old dressed in playground clothes, laughing and talking into our drinks carrying them close to their mouth. The smell was a little strange, NOT a food smell. I wanted to walk out but wanted to support...(what appeared to be a lower end family trying to make it). Then, the food selection was so bad, a couple came in, had their drinks served, went up to food bar and walked right out. I tried to tell my family not to be rude and not to waste food but it was hard to do when the chicken made their veins pop out trying to bite into it. It was dry... EVERYTHING was dry.. Rice..noodles..chicken, everything did not taste good. the only thing that wasnt dry was watermelon and water.. Then after wasting all the food we get a $40 bill. I paid and just waked out without a scene. We did look at reviews before and it would have been nice if people were more honest about it.More

Best Chinese buffet in town after the one on Wanamaker closed again. Easy walk for people working downtown. The food and service are both good.

Right downtown and not very attractive from outside but has plenty of easy parking. Offers carry-out and has a small buffet with really fresh food! Very fairly priced. Pleasant staff made me feel welcome!

Good food, great selection on the buffet, meats, soups, etc.. Nice eatery, hot food, reasonable cost , free parking.

A plethora of Asian/Oriental food establishments populate our town, but there are four that are quite good an Golden Dragon is one of them. Their buffet is by far the best of those available. Haven't ever had anything here that was not good.

This buffet is a bit smaller than most. All of the food was extremely good. The price was also reasonable, under $20 for two of us. We will eat here again when in Topeka.

We hit the evening buffet. The selection was on the smaller side but variety was very good and quality was excellent. Nearly everything we tried was great. Price was very reasonable as well costing under $18 including drinks for 2 adults. Tables and booths could...use a little updating but not bad. Will definitely go again.More
