Not sure what to think of this place

My son is learning about Japan so I wanted to take him someplace to try some Japanese food. We have done the hibachi restaurants so decided to try a Bento Box. There are about 7 booths in the restaurant to be seated at. Great menu so we were excited. There was a picture up of a noodle dish, which my son decided to try. We asked the waitress what it was, and that is what he ordered. I ordered the soy beans to try as an appetizer plus the steak bento box. My son also ordered a bowl of their miso soup to try. We received our drinks, soup and soy beans. All was good. Then the main courses came out and what my son received was not what was on the picture. The waitress then told us it was her mistake, the picture was Lo Mein. What he received was some onion and crispy noodle gooey stuff and steamed rice. When I told her this was not what we expected based on her description, she said that was what we ordered....if we did not want to eat it there we could take it home in a box. I explained that he wanted to try the noodle dish on the picture. She said she could put in another order but we would still have to pay for what we originally ordered. Our lunch was now ruined...where is the customer service? None in this place! Unfortunate, as my bento box food was outstanding. The waitress never came back so our glasses were empty 1/2 way through the meal. There was only 1 other customer so it was not busy what-so-ever. The owner was on the phone yelling at some one about a rental house non-payment right in the front eating area. I had to ask for the check, then ended up taking it to the counter as we were tired of waiting for her to come to the table. The waitress just giggled and said "oh, sorry". Looked like she was eating her lunch and playing on her phone. We won't be back.....which is a shame based on the bento box.

Huge Portions, Reasonably Priced!

This was our first visit to Ling's Bistro, which was prompted by the recommendation of friends. The restaurant is located in a dying strip mall on Wanamaker. It is a simple restaurant, with friendly staff, very large portions, and the most reasonable prices for Chinese food in Topeka. My first dining experience at any Chinese restaurant necessitates ordering Sweet & Sour Chicken! Both the entree, and the accompanying Hot & Sour Soup were very tasty! My meal cost less than $10, and it was enough for three meals. I look forward to visiting Ling's Bistro again, and trying another entree.

We ordered food to go from here. Service was good and prompt. The Chinese garlic pork was not very good and the pork was pretty dry. . The Japanese salad was not as nice a flavor as I am used to. The sushi, however was excellent was quite good. It may have just been a bad night on the Chinese.

Waited 30 mins for food to go. Online order said when to arrive for food to be ready we sat waiting for 30 min. Basically avoided by staff after initially paying. Long lines behind us with the same experience. We won’t go back.

I have been there twice in the last week. We just found this place, and it was so good last weekend, I took a friend in yesterday. We were wowed by the food. We ordered a cup of the hot and sour soup because my friend's husband isn't well, and it is one of the few things he likes that he can eat. If you eat Chinese/Asian food, you know that hot/sour soup is tricky. Sometimes it is really good and sometimes not so much. That little bowl of soup was so good that she took 2 large containers home, and I took one for evening dinner. The big positive for me is that it had NO MSG. G ordered the lunch special with pork and garlic oil and I ordered the combination fried rice. Both were excellent. The rice had lots of chicken, shrimp, beef and pork and the flavor was authentic and delicious. We will be going back there. The prices are reasonable and food was wonderful.

Good Food - Good Prices

We typically get delivery, and have never been to the actual brick and mortar. Having said that, the food has always been amazing and online ordering is easy! If you like Chinese take out this is the place for you!!

Out of this World!

I have been there several times in the last month and have been so impressed. I am a foodie and they have totally blown me away with the whole experience! The food is crazy good and have tried several different items on the lunch menu and just been blown away with flavor, service, and value for the money! Honestly, if you have not tried it and like Chinese you are missing it!

A very good place to eat oriental food. Not a fancy place, but very large portions for the money. Good Sushi also. I have had lunch here several times and they have great service and great food.

Favorite Place for Teriyaki Chicken

This personally one of my favorite restaurants for Asian food. I love the chicken teriyaki the best. All the food is obviously fresh and you can taste that. The ginger salad dressing isn't overwhelming like other places, but just right. The fried rice is a little different but yummy, and the teriyaki sauce amazing. You get a lot of food for the price you pay. The restaurant is a decent size and there is hardly anyone ever in there. Service is always really fast and they always get it right. I've been there for lunch and dinner, and it's always great. I've also used the online order option several times and it works like a charm. The to-go containers are really nice and can my heated up later. Ever person i've taken here all agrees that it's awesome food. I swear I go here at least twice a month if not more (gotta have a little variety).

Great local place!

The building doesn’t look like a great place to eat, but once you get past that, you will have an enjoyable experience. This is our go-to place for Chinese food. Everything seems to be freshly cooked when ordered. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. And you get a lot for your money. Never usually super busy, so you can just call in, drive over and pick it up.

Great addition to Wanamaker

Day business trip to Topeka. I wanted something different from the usual spots for lunch. I noticed Ling's and decided to try it out. It was a good choice! Food is prepared fresh. Prices are very reasonable. I will seek out Ling's the next time I am in Topeka.

Finally a locally owned option for the Wanamaker Road 'chain row'....

This is a hidden gem (north end of the center anchored by Best Buy on the south) staffed primarily by a young couple where he is in the kitchen and she oversees the front end. My wife and I have been here for a couple of date nights and I've taken business clients here for lunch meetings. The menu has Chinese, Japanese style, and basic sushi options. Very large portions are served, especially for the reasonable prices, and I've tried different entrees each time and enjoyed each one. I've recommended a Dinner Club of 10 that we are members that dine around so I've staked my rep on this near future experience.

Our new favorite for Chinese food

We stopped by here for dinner. Great menu with lots of options. Was difficult to decide where to start on our first visit. We opted for two of our "tried and true" Chinese foods - General Tsao's and lo mein. Both were very good. Prices are reasonable. We would like to come back soon for sushi. Service was good and attentive.

Our New Favorite Asian Restaurant

We ate here tonight for an early supper. It was very clean including the restroom. The service was good. Our food had not been prepared ahead of time so it was fresh and hot. The prices are good too. We will be going back.
