My wife and I met at Zen for lunch. We were promptly greeted and seated upstairs. It was a nice day so the patio was packed. Service was friendly and quick which is appreciated when you are on your lunch break. The lunch combos are...good with miso soup, salad and various sushi roll selections. I reccomend the spicy tuna. Sushi was good and nice spot for lunch or dinner.More

For atmosphere the restaurant was a little dark, but everyone was very nice. We were greeted and seated quickly. We mainly ordered: - Toronto Maki - New Wave Maki - Shrimp Tempura Maki - Salmon Mango Maki - Mixed green salad (ordered by mistake, meant...to order the House Salad. Not a fan of mesclun greens with miso ginger dressing. Dressing is too heavy and works better with iceberg.) - Edamame Maki rolls were good, nothing spectacular but fish tasted fresh and rice wasn’t too dry or wet. Sauces on the roll were good too. I would eat here again. Price was a little high for atmosphere and simplicity of the rolls, but it’s similar to other prices in the area.More

Overall the Sushis are very good. I was a little bit disappointed about the selection, respectively about the missing Sushi / Sashimi combos for 1 person. Sushis it-self were OK but not exceptional tasty.

Colleagues and I visited for dinner after a conference at a nearby hotel. Staff was friendly greeting us, and seated us right away upstairs. The menu is quite extensive, including rolls, sushi, sashimi, noodles, soup, etc. All the sushi was super fresh and well prepared,...rolls were creative and different, and the noodles were piping hot when served. All in all we had a great experience.More

This was a great find - very close to our hotel. If you can, grab a table downstairs where you can watch the chefs working. The menu is a bit overwhelming but it is a sushi bar! We ordered the boat which was beautifully presented...and plenty for 4-6 people. Plenty of raw fish on it so would recommend choosing something a little different for your main.More

We popped in here for a late lunch after several failed attempts to eat in other places. The food was fantastic! Everything was very fresh and the service was efficient and attentive. We enjoyed ramen, poke, and teriyaki. The cost for a meal for 4...was $99 with 2 glasses of wine--a bargain. Highly recommended!More

I always make sure to visit Zen when I am visiting my partner in Boston. Restaurant is always nice, not too busy and not too quiet. Service is great from staff, always ensure you have everything you need but do not peer over you constantly....If you sit downstairs you can watch your sushi being made, which is one of the best parts.More

I was visiting on a business trip and thought I'd give some sushi a try in Boston. Upon reading quite a few reviews and doing some last minute research, I decided on trying Zen since I was staying nearby and it was convenient to do...so. I ordered the sushi deluxe and I would say the service from the beginning wasn't as warm and welcoming as I am used to at Japanese Sushi restaurants but that's fine. Certainly not a deal breaker. But my miso soup that came with the combo was luke warm at best which was disappointing and when my meal came, the size and amount of rice was quite large. Fish freshness was alright. I would consider this place mid-tier and would definitely say I've had better at this tier.More

Haven’t been here in a while, just stopped by spontaneously for dinner. If you’re looking for good sushi and moderate price, this is a good option. It’s up the street from the State House, tucked away from the tourist traffic. There’s a nice variety of...rolls, rice, and noodle dishes. The food is not fancy but good quality. The service is not that friendly but they are prompt and attentive. I had the combo poke bowl and vanilla and chocolate chip mochi ice cream. Really good. My husband had the beef yaki noodles which was so-so. We’ll go back time to time. It’s an easy and healthy option for dinner.More
