Wow, what a place. Lively, great service (ate at bar), tried a little bit of everything but the mushrooms with an egg yolk in middle was maravilloso. If you sit at bar, stay away from kitchen b/c it gets hot. House Rioja went down smooth and a great compliment to the shrimp or the steak. Since the dishes are tapas,... More

I could actually close my eyes and point to something on the menu and would love it. I was there with my son and mother in law who both thought it was great.

Great Tapas in Boston. Really fun, energetic atmosphere. Can often be a wait but it's worth it. The glass "pitchers" called poisons are great for drinking white wine from (or sparkling Cava). They really add a lot to the evening. Not the same old same old.

A hopping neighborhood restaurant! We arrived at 9:40 and got a seat on the patio. Looking for a light meal these small plates were perfect. We had the razor clams that were outstanding. Also the spiced hanger steak was delicious. A nice salad and a glass of wine made for a fantastic meal. The server was pleasant and efficient even... More

I thought Barcelona--when it moved in down the road--might give Toro a run for its money... but Toro just stays strong, with some of the best grilled street corn the city has to offer (and it seems that the city is offering more and more of it!) Toro maintains a feeling of greater Spanish tapas authenticity (and having traveled to... More

We are still here as I type: Loud - loud - loud Good - good - good The tapas are very good. Young crowd and tables are very close. Sidewalk seating would diminish the din. Still a very good place to eat. Street parking only. (free on Sunday)

Toro is so far the best Spanish restaurant in Boston. The best word to describe Toro is creativity. Toro's tapas are creative yet good tasting. Paella is made from scratch while others use cooked rice. A simple roasted corn with mayo and cheese is new to the tastebuds. Smokey duck good!

I've been to Toro a number of times, but not for a few years. My recollection was that the food is good, but the wait didn't justify it. My recollection was incorrect. The food was really damned good. We went for Father's Day, showed up at noon, walked right in and sat down. Delicious Sangria. Delicious sliders (hamburguesas). My son... More

I went there with my family on Sunday evening and there was line since 5PM. Even so, we had to wait for about half an hour to get in there. This sure is a good proof how famous this restaurant is. The atmosphere is modern Hispanic with big acrylic bull head on the wall and real flowers and orchids all... More

I came here last night and had a great meal. We ordered a TON of tapas but the highlights were the razor clam special and duck wings. I would skip the soft shell crab special- way too fried. The lamb tongue was overly salted and the flavors got a bit lost. Also, the seafood paella was good, but not amazing.... More

Staying in South End

Neighborhood Profile
South End
Stroll down the beautiful brownstone lined streets while capturing views of Boston’s tallest buildings from a distance. Some of Boston’s best restaurants are scattered around this neighborhood. There are many gems to be found, from jazz clubs to classy bars and restaurants. It is also home to art galleries, interesting boutiques, artsy stores and SOWA open market during the summer months. The South End is a true find in the city, with a more residential feeling than Back Bay.
