Cool, swanky bar with awesome specialty drinks. Tom is one of the best bartenders I’ve ever seen. Good spot for date night or grabbing a drink after the Sox game.

We stopped here after a tour of Boston University. It was also near where we parked. The restaurant is very attractive on the inside. The tables are tiny. I was happy we had a side table to put the carafe of wine on and our waters. The bread served before our meal was excellent. Great crust. The butter was so-so.... More

A fun, casual restaurant with great food and atmosphere. Service and food are always top-notch and it's the perfect stop after a Red Sox game or any other occasion.

I enjoy ES on a summer afternoon with its great atmosphere and cocktails. While it has a limited (and pricey) menu, whats on there is interesting. The downside this time was our server. While friendly, it took too long time for her initial visit in a restaurant that was only 1/2 full (about 20 minutes). When she did come, we... More

Busy in a good way + a nice long bar counter all contribute to a good Friday evening vibe. Unfortunately the food didn't match the setting. My halibut (the special for the day) dish was ok but lacked flavor. To my left the steak & fries was average and to my right the burger was surprisingly small and ordinary.

I've been to Eastern Standard before and always enjoyed the atmosphere, even if their menu isn't particularly engaging, the food is good. If you are looking for raw bar, they have it or head next door to Island Creek Oyster bar. We went on the night of the Grateful Dead show in July and the place was packed. We got... More

My wife and I stayed in the adjacent Commonwealth hotel to attend a Sunday afternoon Red Sox game. We arrived just before lunch and sat at the bar. We had lunch and bloody Mary's. Both were excellent. We ended up after a long day coming back for a nightcap and late night snacks. Very good. The staff is very good,... More

If you're going to Fenway and want a change of pace to the "Beer & Burger" restaurants, Eastern Standard will provide you with an alternative. It has a great vibe, a good bar scene, but if you're hungry and you arrive during off hours (3-5pm) you will be greeted with a very limited menu. I ordered the Avocado & Radish... More

Stayed 3 nights at The Commonwealth Hotel and ate in ES 3 times and had room service from the restaurant once. This restaurant is basically on the 1st floor of the hotel. You can enter the back of the restaurant from inside of the hotel. Great for b'fast, lunch or dinner. We saw concerts at Fenway and had an 11:00pm... More

The food was delicious, the wine was amazing and there was something for everyone. We started with the ES shellfish platter and that is how you start a meal. We all shared a steak, rigatoni and veggies. Don't have to dress all fancy to enjoy a meal here.

Thank Lauren C

Staying in Fenway / Kenmore

Neighborhood Profile
Fenway / Kenmore
The Curse of the Bambino may have ended years ago, but loyal Red Sox fans will continue to infiltrate this home to historic Fenway Park, where you can find victory banners, people yelling in stereotypical Boston accents, and lots of sports bars. Located within Kenmore Square, the old gas station Citgo sign is another Boston skyline classic seen throughout the city. In addition to a hectic and diehard sports mentality, this neighborhood is also home to some of Boston’s many universities. Move from Boston University territory to that of Northeastern, and spend time at the famous Museum of Fine Arts. For more culture, check out the smaller but equally beautiful Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum. Continue off the beaten path and check out the green space in the Back Bay Fens, a pretty community garden. This diverse neighborhood has a mix of universities, sports, culture, and more residential green space.
