Absolutely gorgeous setting - the experience alone was worth the visit. The food was good - not great - but I'll go back because the setting was magic. Our waiter, Brady, was terrific. Was there with a wonderful friend to celebrate her birthday - and...we hadn't seen each other in a long time. We were never rushed. Brady made sure we had what we wanted without hovering. He was just there when we needed him - even though he was very busy with a lot of tables to serve. Thanks Brady - your helped make our celebration so much fun.More

Sat outside in nice courtyard area with heaters. The food was very good, typical Italian dishes. I was disappointed that the menu includes no soups or side salads.

Although this is my first review of Sophia‘s Grotto, I’ve been coming here for many years and the food is consistently excellent. The seafood paella has a plethora of shrimp calamari mussels and clams and is well flavored. The pizzas are good for kids -...one per person is recommended. It’s not easy finding good outdoor seating in Boston, but this place has it. Overall a delightful experience.More

This place is just amazing especially on a nice summer day. Beautiful brick-laid courtyard was very inviting and cozy. Outside sitting is not unlimited so come early! Delicious food and Amazing staff! Scallops with risotto and shrimp linguini were to die for!

I would give it a five star for its atmosphere only which is very romantic and beautiful, but the reason I’m giving it a 3 stars is because of the food. The appetizers were good but the main dishes which mine was Paela was a...big disappointment. It was watery and tasteless, although I spoke to the waitress before I ordered whether if it was watery or not. I would probably go back and have drinks with friends because the ambience is totally inviting, but will not order any main dishes.More

The inside is like a cozy grotto. Outside an awning covers tables on Roslindale Center’s hidden plaza, enclosed by neighboring restaurants and stores. A quiet niche in a congested part of residential Boston Our wonderful waitress Debbie seemed enthusiastic about the entire menu and we...allowed her to steer us to one of her favorites, a superb paella. Others had a stuffed ravioli with a delicious light cream sauce. An artichoke heart, fried and wrapped in prosciutto was unusual in presentation and fabulous. Prices were reasonable. Just a great meal and so much more to try next time!More

First time visit to this restaurant. Recommended by family and did not disappoint! We were lucky to have great weather, so were able to be seated at the outside tables. Excellent service and the pizza was terrific!

The restaurant is literally hidden behind a few other buildings, but seek and you shall be rewarded. The interior is quite small, but there are beautiful patios for al fresco dining. We shared a few small plates, our favorite being the avocado crostini. You may...have had avocado toast many times, but if you haven't had this one, you need to try it! The server did recommend making a restaurant for evenings, especially weekend evenings.More

My friend, a Rossy resident, took me to this lovely restaurant. It's out back behind a few buildings just past an alley and the dumpsters. I recommend the open face raviolis. There were large scallops and shrimp in a tasty red sauce.
