Came on a weekday during lunch time, put our name down and were called about 40 minutes later. We eagerly skipped back to Neptune and sat at the bar. Tip: the bar has hooks for your lady's bag. We ordered half a dozen oysters, which were all delicious and excellent. I'm not a cocktail sauce guy, but their version wasn't... More

Went here with a few friends from work and had some fantastic oysters and an amazing lobster roll. The service was terrific and the waiter made several suggestions to a friend who is not a seafood fan. I definitely would recommend the oysters as they were some of the freshest I ever had. I went with the cold lobster roll... More

3 hour wait. Yep, thats right. Tips: Come early with a FULLY charged cellphone. Put your name, number and party number down. They will tell you the wait time, then explore old Boston. They will call you about 30 minutes prior to your time to check that you are ready. We sampled the oysters- tasted like they just come out... More

I had oysters and a lobster roll. They were so packed that all the servers had already forgotten that it is expected for them to smile while serving. And it was very early in the day. I queued before they opened and was amongst the first to be turned away. Told to come back in 45 min. I did that.... More

The place is packed... they told us to wait one hour for the table, so we agreed and walked around the north end for an hour. When we get there after one hour a little more the waitress says to go walk for 30 minutes more because they don't have anything available, supposedly their lobster rolls are good but for... More

The food at Neptune is fabulous, but I will not go back for one simple reason their process to accept people is one of the most if not the most disturbing I have ever experienced in my life eating at restaurants across the world from Europe to Asia back to North America. There is no clear line. The tone of... More

Overrated, crowded, warm oysters, no ice in water, no salt and pepper had to ask. Food was just OK , there are plenty of good seafood restaurants in Boston that offer a better dining experience.

Heard this was the place to go for oysters and seafood. Waited 2 hours to be seated. This restaurant is small really small. It is cramped and noisy. We sat right at the front door. The people waiting to be seated were in your face during the entire meal. The oysters are fresh and a good selection. The scallops were... More

I went here because several websites say that it's the best place to get lobster rolls in Boston. I had one in another place and was a bit disappointed, so I really didn't have any big expectations with Neptune Oyster. It turned out to be a nice experience though! The lobster at Neptune Oyster wasn't rubbery or negligible: there's actually... More

Well worth the hour wait. We came on a Saturday as soon as they opened and still had to wait for over an hour to be seated. The reason is the restaurant is small and they take their time with every table. The lobster rolls were good but the oysters were the most notable. Very very good oysters. We loved... More

Staying in North End

Neighborhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
