Guinness and pizza Margharita at a table on the sidewalk on a pleasant Boston summer eve. What could be better. I wanted to visit Solas when I was in town for the Boston Marathon in April, but there were way too many people. It is on Boylston Street about 100 yards from the marathon finish line. The food was great!

We have passed this place many times when we have visited Boston. Finally decided to have a cocktail and beer there with my hubby. Delicious cocktail but so much ice I'm sure only a thimble full of vodka went into the glass and at $13 a glass far too expensive.

We stopped in a few times for both drinks and food as this was near our hotel. We liked the food had burgers and appys (the pretzel was a hit), and were not disappointed. The bar area is a little small not a lot of stools, but they do have an upstairs setting area for food service. Would defiantly stop... More

We stayed at the Lenox Hotel for a conference and Solas Pub was a terrific little spot to meet for lunch. Service was personable and the menu selection was very good. We went several times and would definitely go back.

This was the first place we ate dinner on our vacation to Boston. I liked it so much, we came back again! It only seemed appropriate to go to an Irish pub in the city. One of the cool parts of the experience was that there were some actual Irish people who stopped by, which is always a good endorsement.... More

Stopped in for a beer and a bite to eat. Ordered beer but was told what was ordered was unavailable. Ok, served from bottle. Short while later a different customer ordered same tap beer and it was served without incident. Bartender more interested in her texting than our order. Watched other staff grab straws for their customers' drinks, in one... More

We tried to get in here for something to eat. We were stopped at the door by a very smug, arrogant member of staff who asked my 27 year old son for I.D.. When he showed him his valid U.K. driving licence he was informed that this was insufficient evidence and that he would need to have a passport. Seriously,... More

An average performance here, food was OK in general, some enjoyed, some didn't. The drinks service was woefully slow though. We were upstairs and kind of felt forgotten. Won't rush back.

Nice evening, but outdoor seating full, so ate inside. Good service. Pretzel appetizer was terrific. Fish and chips good. Plenty on the menu.

We stopped by the other day to watch a soccer match in the Euro championships. Service was quick and friendly and the couple of appetisers we shared were hot and tasty. All in all an authentic pub worth visiting.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
