This is a super place for a real espresso, very good cakes and exceptional service. This coffee beats many other in Milan or Rome!

When in the North End this is a must stop for desert. There are many choices too good to name but love the carrot cake and the Rum cake. The coffee is great. Listen 2 deserts 2 coffees for $11.35 + top. In Boston? No way you should pass this place up. Yes the line is long - always-but moves... More

If you want your cannoli hand filled then this is the place, it may take a little longer but its so fresh its worth it. My favorite is the lobster tail - plenty enough for people to share with a nice hot chocolate

I always enjoy my visits to Modern pastry Shop. Not too long of a line this time. However, the wait is worth it. I enjoyed carrot cake and a pear tart this time. Also brought home some cannolis for my family.

We stopped at Modern Pastry after dinner and wow! Great deserts through out the shop. We purchased cannoli, lady lox and almond cookies. They were all delicious. This place does a tremendous volume of business. Customers were standing 3-4 deep to purchase these deserts. I wish we had the time to just sit down and enjoy our deserts and coffee,... More

BE SURE TO HAVE CASH FOR YOUR VISIT as they do not accept credit cards! Or maybe it was for the best that I did not have much cash that day because I surely would have loved 1 of every dessert there! The cannoli's were SO very good. I was amazed by the number of flavors and the sheer number... More

Really great Italian coffee shop and pastry house! Really good service and terrific drinks and pastries. The only downside is that it doesn't quite have the Italian coffee shop vibe due to the type and volume of the music and the fact that there's a sports bar in the basement. Putting that aside though, fantastic cannoli and so much more.... More

We stopped after lunch for desert and coffee. It was a great day, sunshine and the best deserts. I had the savoy which was sponge cake soaked in rum, whipped cream, almonds, cherry and chocolate filling. The best. Everyone enjoy their deserts and coffee.

Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli.
