The only thing I can comment on is the lobster tail, as that was the only thing I tried. The cream was really good, but the pastry was very hard and un-edible. It's very busy, so I'm assuming that the pastry and cakes are otherwise pretty good.

This pastry shop offered delicious treats that were even more enjoyable after dinner. It was even better that they were still open when other shops were closed.

We stopped in while checking out the neighborhood, on the advice of some friends, and we were happy we did! The vibe was hopping - the place was packed and the counter staff didn't miss a beat. I was impressed that they fill your cannoli to order (rather than making them ahead of time and letting them sit on the... More

Really nothing to do with traditional Italian pastries. Very disappointing and way too much hype. The outside of the cannoli was dry and the filling didn't even taste of ricotta but mostly caster sugar...

We tried this spot saturday night but way too busy. So we went back during the day and it was easy breezy.

On the advice of a North Ender, I came to buy a cannoli, as she told me that Modern has the authentic kind, not the Americanized kind. One can choose different filings and add-ons. But there are cases and cases of beautiful pastries and chocolates and breads. It is a challenge to leave with just one small thing.

14 of us went here after touring Boston and a wonderful dinner. This was my first time visiting THIS shop, and I will be back! The cannoli's were the best on Hanover St! Filled to order- so they were not soggy at all! The chocolate cake was to die for!

I really enjoyed Mike's. It reminded me of -Little Italy in New York. Cannoli were very good and filled fresh. The Tiramisu was extremely tasty. I am from Central NJ, so I know great Pastries and Mike's is definitely worth a trip. It is cash only, but very inexpensive compared to NJ and NY. Our bill for 2 cappuccinos, a... More

Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli.
