It was suggested that we try a Cannoli from Modern Pastry and it was amazing! We also sampled a nearby popular pastry shop's cannoli,to compare and ... MODERN PASTRY ALL THE WAY. Smaller in size but way bigger in taste and authenticity. Highly, highly recommend Modern Pastry - only downfall, we just can't have any cannoli anymore ...they're just not... More

Cash Only! Bring around 15 dollars for 2 people for 2 deserts, oh and be prepared to wait! ~10-40 minutes. Delicious pastries and surrounding neighborhood is great to walk off the pastry pounds. Another can't miss site. My friend thought America could never have good pastries, she has since apologized to the city of Boston :-). She also made sure... More

Went here based on its cannolli reviews. While it was certainly tasty, the cannolli from the restaurant across the street was tastier.

I went with two friends for tea and desert before a show! We had some tea and one had an espresso and then split a canoli and a tiramisu... It was lovely and there was a place to sit down and we beat the rush!

Many different dessert to choose from, I prefer this to the other place down the street. Small bar under the shop and always busy!

Every time I'm in Boston, I have to stop for pine nut cookies (childhood remembrance). The ones at Modern Pastry are delicious - and everything else in the pastry cases looked very tempting. Prices are a bit steep, but a great treat!

This place was pretty crazy. We went on a Wednesday night at 9:30 at night and it was still packed with a line outside. Of course give an espresso and a cannoli I would suggest getting a cannoli with some of the Pistachios.

Great pastry shop. We stopped in for quick taste test of several cookies. The pistachio cookie was good but the almond was better. Stopped in for a quick dessert - staff was great!

Gorgeous looking and fabulous tasting Italian pastries. Modern is right in The North End, or Little Italy. On Hanover street with most of the Italian restaurants and shops. Showcases on the left and tables and chairs on the right. Lucky a weekday mid afternoon and we were able to get a table. Wait service is available, but first devour the... More

Staying in North End

Neighborhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
