HISTORY OF THE DINER:South Street Diner (formerly the Blue Diner) was built in 1943 by the Worcester Dining Company to serve local factory workers. Located in Boston’s Leather District, the 24-hour Diner is currently owned and operated by local restaurateur, Sol Sidell. South Street Diner has become a local landmark, a constant in Boston's after-hours scene and a final evening destination for local residents, students and visitors. When the clubs close, the Diner is the place to grab something to eat, hang out with friends, celebrity watch, and keep the party going. No visit to Boston is complete without a stop to the South Street Diner. Over the years, the Diner has been called "The PLACE for

I didn't really know anything about this place - I just googled "Breakfast near me" and it came up. I was not disappointed. During this pandemic, they were very aware of distancing and although I did need to wait on line to be seated (it...was 10am on a Sunday), the line moved quickly. The food selection was impressive. I thought they'd only have breakfast, but they had several other options. as well. The food was delicious, the portions were diner-sized, and although I was a little disappointed that they didn't have gluten free bread, I didn't have any trouble finding a number of meals to choose from. The servers were really nice and efficient and the prices were fair (2 breakfasts, coffee, and a mimosa for $33). The atmosphere is diner kitschy and the music was awesome - a real mix of genres. I'd go there again.More

Lovely little charming local restaurant with really good food even though portions are kinda too big and we waited around 30 to 40 min before getting a table and since the place is small that was very noisy and over crowded

An OK place. The food or service was not that great. The diner car makes it interesting and the location is pretty easy to find. I am not sure if we would stop here again with some many other nicer choices.

This was the first ever authentic American diner I visited, on holiday here from the UK, and it absolutely didn't disappoint. I admit I was a bit of a goggle-eyed tourist... I loved sitting at the bar, watching the chefs cook on the skillets and...hot coffee served by the jug, with the delicious smell of freshly made waffles and bacon! It was everything I could hope for and more!More

Had to queue to get into the diner for breakfast, however the waitress came out with the menu and took the order so that once you did get a table the food was ready and in fairness the wait time was only 10 minutes. Once...inside the staff could not have been more helpful and the food was delicious, this place is well worth a visit!More

Had a pretty extensive menu and the cheese burger was very good. There was a very ample supply of fries. The service is sincere, accurate and slow. The only true downside- it is COLD in here. I don’t mean chilly, I mean cold. The temp...outside was only 30, so it wasn’t brutally cold outside. We wanted to stay and take in the atmosphere, but we couldn’t take the cold any more.More

Looking for a tasty breakfast, great service, excellent value and in the heart of Boston? Look no further. Greeted by Sol the owner. Our red head(sorry don’t know your name) server was the sweetest. Had veggie omelet and Greek omelet for breakfast. Fast, hot and...very tasty. Would definitely be a regular and it’s a cool spot! 5 starsMore

I was told that I couldn’t keep the Starbucks coffee that I purchased 10 mins before and also that I must sit at the counter and not a booth ( although was quiet ) the eggs were made to a good standard but the potatoes...were hard and pancakes over cooked. The diner looked like it could do with a make over. It felt like I went in clean and came out dirty. God knows how it made the reviews it has done so far!!More

I like diner food, but this place was just eh. It’s the kind of place that you get what you get and you’d better like it, and dare not complain. The big guy who hosts at the door was over the top condescending and passive...aggressive with me because I said, you’re not seating someone here are you -in a table literally 3 inches apart from us. He yelled, yes I am ma’am and WE LOVE TO HAVE YOU HERE! (He actually moved the table over and it turned out fine. But then After 5 minutes of waiting I said to my husband -I wonder if we’ll get any service? Don’t you know the host overheard me, and yelled again, OH YOU’ll GET SERVICE, THE SERVICE YOU DESERVE while staring at me! I stayed for my husband. We both had an extremely average eggs bacon and home fries- the server was fine.More

Being small place we try to accommodate everyone and we appreciate moving over so others could sit down.

Went here for brunch on our first day in Boston. We were drawn by the reviews on TripAdvisor and Google but unfortunately it did not live up to them. My wife had the pancakes and bacon. The pancakes were massive, dry and had hard uncooked/cooked...bits inside and only had three small bacon rashers. I had eggs Benedict which was good apart from the stale muffin and overcooked eggs. The waitress was actually very nice but service was on the slow side despite it being empty in there. We didn't return nor would we recommend this place. The two starts are purely for the waitress.More
