We ordered the Jasper's Famous Pan-Roasted Lobster, which can be shared if you have a lighter appetite. It was pricey at $46 per lobster, but It was amazing. I have eaten plenty of lobster in my life, but this specific recipe was truly special. This is a laid back restaurant that has a wide variety of seafood, but you should... More

We stopped for mid-week lunch after a morning of sightseeing. All three of us ordered blackboard seafood specials. Each one was expertly prepared and delicious. (The roasted kale was particularly interesting.) The decor is casual but comfortable. You can see into the kitchen. (The lobster steamer is really impressive.) The server was attentive and efficient. Not inexpensive but considering the... More

I had time to kill before my flight so I checked out the restaurant across my hotel, which I had walked past several times but didn't stop in, as it didn't look like much. I regret this now, as it turns out to be a very popular seafood restaurant complete with locals congregated around the bar in front. The sea... More

One of my favorite places in town for seafood. Can be a bit pricey but usually worth it. Menu changes frequently so you get to try something new every time, and their basic menu has decent options too. Every time they had a Caribbean or Latin styled dish they absolutely nailed it. Good selection of wine and beer too, worth... More

On a recent visit to Boston for business, we had the opportunity to get together with friends for dinner. The "summer shack" was just up the street from the hotel. The restaurant had great appeal when we stepped inside and we were ready for some seafood. However, the service was awful. If we could have had a waitress who could... More

We made reservations via open table. Arrived early but still had to wait which we totally understood. Our waitress was dingy, we asked her about dishes, and she was very vague with opinion and information. We had Steak and a Lobster roll. Waited over 40 minutes to get dinner. The table next to us that sat down and ordered after... More

My co-worker and I wanted New England food without all the tourists, so we found Summer Shack, awesome food, whole lobster cracked in peices so you can eat somewhat neatly. Great place!

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
