Decided to try this place out for the first time. We had the oysters from Martha's vineyard and they were delicious. Very meaty and fresh, we enjoyed them alot. The grilled Kale was quite different from what I am used to but they were ok, too salty however. Service was great overall. Not sure we would go back though.

Great seafood, music and atmosphere, traditional big plate american style food. Ideal to go with family or friends as a big group to share the quality time. Would definitely come back if i go Boston again

Two of us enjoyed a good business lunch here, so nothing wild happened, but I can see that on a busy Saturday night, this place could be a lot of fun. Great casual-rustic decor, an amazing oyster bar, and crayons for the kids! As to the food, my crab cake was good, my colleague's sales was good, and the service was... More

First the food. We had lobster and crab cakes together with white wine and crafted beer. Both dishes were delicious, real good stuff. The price for this quality was alright. We would recomend this restaurant but you have be ready a nosy place. It's a mixture between a dine and and a sportsbar. The staff was very friendly and helpfull.... More

Amazing oysters (Dennis were our favourites), albeit a little pricey ($2.75 each and we found another place with $1 specials - buck a shuck). Nice meal but nothing special.

Good beer, not so great wine, good food but nothing really spectacular. A bit expensive for the quality.

Went to the summer shack for dinner with my husband whilst staying at the Sheraton as it was close by the hotel. We had the crab cakes with sweet potato fries and the fried clams with Boston cream pie for dessert. The food was really good but very expensive, about $125 for 2 mains and 1 dessert plus a couple... We ask our hotel concierge for a seafood restaurant recommendations and he sent us here. We were looking for a local authentic meal, chowder, lobster, crab.. we were so disappointed. It feels like a chain restaurant in Times Square, big and impersonal. We both had the chowder, I had the crab cake blt and my husband had the lobster roll.... More

I had to have lobster while we were in Boston. Summer Shack is a very casual restaurant. We both had their special lobster done just at their restaurant. Our waitress told us that unlike the steamed lobster this would be cracked already. We thought she meant it would be out of the shell but that wasn't the case it had... More

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
