We were in Boston doing college tours with my son. Our hotel was steps away from this place and the hotel recommended it for a casual dinner, good seafood. It was playoff season so we sat at the bar to watch a game and dine. We had a selection of oysters-- all delicious. My husband and I split a 2... More

We had server Dan who was very pleasant and took great care of us. We ate fish tacos and French fries and I had the scorpion drink. Everything was well prepared and arrived to the table quickly. Dan was an attentive server who checked on us frequently and refreshed drinks as needed. Prices were just right.

Came here based on a recommendation and was surprised at the high prices for oysters and lobster and fish selection. From what I saw there aren't any bargains. Decided to try something more affordable. A cup of clam chowder and fried chicken. Clam chowder had plenty of potatoes and not many clams. Fried chicken was advertised to be four pieces... More

This is not one of the must visit restaurants but they have good seafood. They have a great selection of oysters and my waiter was very helpful in assisting on the flavors of each type of oyster. Additionally the cook prepared the crab legs without butter (it's a low cholesterol diet thing which is hell on a foodie). The crab... More

We were happy to go here for 2 reasons. First of all my husband wanted to try the pan fried lobster that he had seen advertised. And, it was a mere 200 steps across the street from the Sheraton where we were staying. Upon entering it is a busy, vibrant spot with happy customers. We sat at a small table... More

Food and service were both on point. Everyone enjoyed their dishes. I especially enjoyed the shrimp gumbo and the griddled cornbread is wonderful. My only gripe... one appetizer, one entree and one dessert requested from the specials board were out. The server said it had not been updated.

Summer Shack is very family friendly. The lobster rolls were delicious and the atmosphere was nice our server was so so. If we would have had great service it would have been a higher rating.

Very large menu with a nice balance of traditional Boston cuisine (fried clams, lobster rolls, Indian Pudding) with newer takes on (especially) seafood of all types. Portions are on the generous side, and warm corn bread that is given after you order is delicious. Pleasant staff. Good bar selection and playful, informal atmosphere. Having been born in Boston and lived... More

Staying at the Hilton Back Day next door, we popped in to this location of the Summer Shack just to get a cup of chowder and a beer. It's literally next door to the Hilton, across the street from the Sheraton and near the other Back Bay tourist hotels. We arrived late, near 3 pm, so it was after the... More

Decided to try this place out for the first time. We had the oysters from Martha's vineyard and they were delicious. Very meaty and fresh, we enjoyed them alot. The grilled Kale was quite different from what I am used to but they were ok, too salty however. Service was great overall. Not sure we would go back though.

Staying in Back Bay

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
