My third trip here was not a disappointment! I had the eggplant rollitini, (the one thing I always get,) veal saltimbocca, and pumpkin ravioli. The eggplant rollitini is my favorite thing I've tried there, with loads of ricotta cheese and an amazing tomato sauce that's sweet and riddled with basil. The veal was cooked perfectly, and the ravioli was the... More

We love visiting Boston and especially the North End. While we always try to go to a variety of places to eat, there is one place we always go to when in town - Al Dente. Al Dente is a small, cozy but lively place with a nice reasonably-priced menu, good selection of wines (glass and bottle) and great service.... More

So how can you praise a well established restaurant with the sweetest staff ever (our waitress was 82) ambiance in the North End, perfect food, and more? Just say it was better then perfect and will be one of our go to places whenever we visit Boston. Small and quant. A perfect pasta dish and it was gluten free. Thank... More

We enjoyed a family meal at Al Dente and everyone enjoyed the food. Simple, straight forward Italian dishes that are not heavily spiced, and nicely prepared and served. Service was outstanding, among the very best we have ever had. We will return!

Solid italian fare in a family friendly environment. Food and service were great. We tried the chicken parm, lobster ravioli, and the seafood pasta special. All very good and reasonably priced.

We stopped in during mid December for a late lunch. We were seated right away. Place was busy but not crowded. My husband had the Al Dente gnocchi which he said were the best he every had. My daughter had the fettuccini Alfredo which she felt had too much butter in the mix to her liking. My son had the... More

I was in Boston last weekend visiting for a day and had dinner with friends. They suggested Al Dente! Cozy atmosphere and boisterous diners and servers. Very Boston I suspect. The food was very good, but the portions were "gi-normous" They are very good to be shared. We all shared tastes even though our friends had dined there for years....I... More

I was so disappointed based on the North End location and previous reviews. The food was nothing special; any home cook could have made better pasta dishes. Also, this restaurant does not serve desserts.

We had a reservation for 8.30pm. We arrived on time and were met outside the door by a gentleman who advised us that our table was almost ready. The family currently seated had just paid their bill. We stood outside for 30 mins in the cold, then left and went to an excellent restaurant around the corner. By the time... More

Staying in North End

Neighborhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
