One of many choices of high quality Italian eateries in the North End, Monica’s has a cozy, unpretentious feel, with friendly service and a sophisticated menu. Early on a January Monday evening, it was a perfect setting for an informal business dinner, and my guest – fresh off the plane from France – was duly impressed. Highly recommended.

We were thankful to get a table for 9 on a Friday nights. Service was attentive. However, food wasn’t so great. For meals, We ordered Shrimp scampi, chicken vodka, seafood pasta, carbonara and they were all quite disappointing. None of us finished our food. Their salad and mussels appetizer were good, however. The bill came to about $580 (no drinks) including 20% service charge. Don’t mind service charge but meal was pricy considering portion and the lack of flavor.

Holy Moly this was a delicious experience! The pastas are made in-house and are thin and delicate - beautiful. Sauce was simple and fresh and seasoned to perfection. The 4-cheese ravioli was the best meal I've had on our Boston trip. The service was excellent. I see some reviews say there are some inconsistencies but I can tell you whoever was chef on Sunday night July 18th nailed it.

After vowing never to return to this restaurant, we dined there again last week (reservation was made by one of the other members of our party). Big mistake. The food was average, the service was disappointing (perhaps the 20% automatic service charge was a factor?) and this restaurant continues to "nickel & dime" its customers with extra charges (e.g. $15 for extra bolognese sauce, $3 for blue cheese olives, and others). There are too many good restaurants in the North End to put up with this place.

When we arrived patrons were seated at only one other table. We were quickly served bread with olive oil, balsamic vinegar, and grated Parmesan cheese. The portions were meager and the bread was like store-bought. Italian bread: soft and tasteless. The blueberry lemon cocktails were good. Our Caesar salad with anchovies was okay but bland and topped with 3 anchovies. I asked for the wine list to get a glass with dinner. Our entrees were served and eaten, but the waitress asked if I had a chance to look at the wine list only after we had finished our meals. My pricey entree was linguine with white clam sauce. The linguine was freshly made and tasty, BUT it was served in a clump that would not come apart so I had to cut the lump with my knife to eat it. 8 tiny clams topped my dish without any chopped up clams in the runny tasteless sauce. My partner enjoyed her salmon but the mashed potatoes it was served over were lukewarm/cool. The broccoli rabe was undercooked and extremely bitter. A very disappointing experience. With so many other fine restaurants in Boston's North End, we will never return to Trattoria di Monica!

The menu at Monica's is expansive and holds a tempting array of traditional breakfast foods and creative options...it was hard to choose! My crepes with Nutella and bananas were heavenly and my husband equally enjoyed the avocado toast with eggs and home fries. Our server, Alexis, was friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable in guiding us to our choices. We look forward to going to Monica's again next time we're in Boston.

In Boston overnight for a business meeting. Stayed in North Station and decided to walk until I saw something that peaked my interest. I didn’t have to walk far until I found Monica’s Trattoria. Wish I had taken a photo from the outside before it got dark because that’s what initially drew me in. The curbside charm is amazing. There may be better restaurants in the area but on this night it was the best restaurant for me. Drank some reliable Casamigos on the rocks and then some Whispering Angel Rose with my meal. Decided on the Cozze Fridiavlo (mussels) to start and it was delicious. Was hoping to get their Veal chop for my entree but they were sold out early (good sign) so I decided on the Salsiccia Toscana (homemade sausage with tomato sauce over gnocchi). The depth of flavors was exactly the comfort I was looking for. I’d like to give a special shout out to the bartender, Samantha, who brightened up a stressful day with her positive demeanor and good service.

The food here was pretty good basic Italian fare and much better than the place up the street. The mozzarella bruschetta were delicious and our main courses very good as well. I think most of the North End places have roughly the same prices (kind of expensive) but this is a good choice for some place off the main drag. It was less busy than other places so we were able to get a table fairly easily.

I think this was the best meal for us in Boston. We went on a Sunday around 7 pm without a reservation and were seated in 5 minutes (I recommend getting a reservation if possible). The restaurant was very lively and our server gave us some good recommendations. The food was fresh and delicious. The drinks, entrees, dessert. Everything was perfect. It was a tight table but we kind of managed just fine. I really liked the espresso martini and the eggplant parm.

We had taken a trip to Boston on New Year's Day to see the sites and enjoy some good North End food. We had a 6:30 reservation at Monica's and arrived promptly. The restaurant space is very tight as it took a few mins to get our seats. Nice menu with a nightly specials to go along with main menu. We orders some great appetizers along with there special pastas. 😋 Nice job to the staff

A good friend recommended this restaurant. Small local place but the food was great. 5 people in our party and everyone liked their food. Small wine list by the glass but a nice selection. I had the Parmigiana all vodka. Nicely flavored sauce and the chicken was well prepared. Also the Caprese was one of the tastiest I've had in a long time.Service was good. We expected the usual post covid understaffing but there were probably three waitresses taking care of our table. Serving sizes were good but not too much. No need to get a doggy bag. Definitely need reservations on a Friday night. No long waits for any of our foods. Drinks came quickly and we had plenty of time to chat and enjoy. The owner Patrick came by and was super friendly-thanked us for coming, told us about his operation. Been in business since 1995, Its a definite to go back again.

My husband and I went to Monica's with our son and finance. It's was so fun and the food was delicious. I had the veal Milanese, it was so good and prepared wonderful not to dry. The arugula on top was very fresh. The short rib ravioli yummy, the short ribs with polenta and pasta carbonara all were wonderful. Nice wine selection and the service very friendly. Would definitely return our next time in Boston.

Wildly inconsistent. The last time we ate here the food was wonderful. This time we ordered the same things and were very disappointed. The veal valdostana was very overcooked. The lobster fettuccini had half the lobster as last time. They no longer have that focaccio bread that made us choose them over the other Monica’s . Too bad.

Great service, adaptable menu, reasonable prices and good wine menu. One of my favorite places to go with friends, we decided to take our family and a whole group of people here. We were NOT disappointed.

Terrific meal for a family of four with two teenagers. European ambiance in a busy restaurant. The food was amazing! Portions were reasonable. Pasta and seafood were fresh! Prices were a bit high, but to be expected.
