We had reservations at another restaurant but stopped in Assaggio for drinks. the bartenders made amazing drinks especially the espresso martinis. As we were getting ready to leave I kept wondering why we could not stay for dinner. The atmosphere was so nice and the food that was coming out looked amazing. Long story short the restaurant we had reservations at said it would be a 45 minute wait( at 8:00) the atmosphere looked like a cafeteria. We all ran back to Assaggio and the manager welcomed us right back in. thanks Mason! We were impressed the entire night. Best meal I had while we were there. It is off a small street - a hidden gem.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a staycation weekend in Boston this year. We chose to dine at the bar at Assaggio on Saturday night. We cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had. Shannon was our bartender. SHE IS AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME! She made us feel so welcome and was so accommodating. We picked items and ate our way through the menu - The food was fantastic!!! (burrata, carpaccio, carbonara, lasagna, beef short ribs, wine and yummy martinis) Even when Shannon was so busy with service and other patrons she never stopped smiling and never made us feel rushed - She always had time for us to answer questions or grab us a drink. She is the epitome of impeccable service. We had such a great experience! Thank you all for making our evening so special!

I had the best Ceasar Salad hands-down! Every piece of butter lettuce perfectly dressed with an outstanding dressing. The Caprese salad was equally stupendous. However, the Gnocchi was very disappointing... sauced with a flat-tasting tomato cream instead of a lively Gorgonzola sauce. Even the Lasagna was mediocre, missing the meat. A pity.

My husband & I went to restaurant to celebrate our Anniversary which I put when making the online reservations. However, they didn’t do anything special. I should’ve known the service would be aweful when a waiter spilled water all over another customer. Our waiter was so clueless, didn’t give a napkin when I asked twice, was not attentive, didn’t ask for dessert and charged us for an appetizer which we never got. Food was nothing spectacular but worst service!! Will never go back to Assaggio!

What a disappointment, the only good news is that we were seated as walk-ins when all other places we tried had at least an hour wait. We were seated in the newly opened basement which seemed to added an after thought. The staff was friendly and the wine list OK but a bit pricey. We ordered the bruschetta with hose made buratta which was tasty but at $18 for two slices of bred and one ounce of cheese, ridiculous. My wife ordered a pasta dish with read meat sauce which she found tasteless. I had the clams and pasta with imported Italian clams that were delicious but the sauce bland. The pasta was simply dried spaghetti cooked too al dente to our taste and all of the dozen or so pasta dishes apparently only offered commercial dried spaghetti rather than matching the noodles to the sauce. The North End is famous for Italian food but our neighborhood trattoria in suburban St. Louis offers much better bruschetta and pasta at less than half the price of this place.

Good food but not worth the wait or the condescending attitude from the manager Justin Martin. We walked in around 7pm and told we could get a reservation for 4 @ 7:30. Went to the bar for a drink but had to split up because it was busy. At 7:30 I got a cryptic text thanking me for making a reservation. I ask Justin if our table is ready and he comes back saying it will be a few minutes. At 8 PM I ask for a status and he still working on it. At 8:15 he says there was some confusion and they thought we decided to eat at the bar so they gave our table away. We finally get seated and it takes almost an hour for 4 pasta dishes to arrive. The waiter apologizes for the wait. On the way out I tell Justin that I am very disappointed with how we were treated after spending $ 400 on dinner. He responded by saying "I got you a table what's the problem". Justin might need to find a new line of work or Depasquale Ventures is going to lose more customers. PS the Bartender is great so they might want to put him out front!

After navigating the busy Main Street, it was worth venturing off the booked restaurants to Assaggio. Great atmosphere and great food. Daughter said it was the best egg plant parmigiana ever. The service was very good also.

We went there late on Saturday night. The hostess was very nice and got us a table immediately.
It seems like food quality is not what it used to be. It felt like eating at a franchise with the typical streamlined Italian cuisine. nothing special nothing to look back at.

We stopped in here for a late evening dinner, and were not disappointed. We ordered aperol spritz cocktails and skipped an app beyond the bread and oil which was great. Entrees were the lasagna and the carbonara and both were just excellent. We finished every last bite and can't wait to go back. Our waiter was lovely, service was quick and friendly, and the ambience in the restaurant was lovely with the windows open on a summer evening. Lovely!

Felt like a rave in the North End. I’ve never been to a restaurant that felt so unsure of who it is at its code. The food was good, the waiter was good, but the ambiance ruined it. It was dance/techno music - totally NOT what I have in mind when going to the North End. Had I known that, I never would’ve made the reservation there. But we wanted to try something different. Couldn’t hear each other and the couch seat up in the lounge was so squishy and low. Would not recommend - it’s not what you expect from the North End.

We were able to make a reservation on a very busy Saturday night between Christmas and New Year's. The place was packed and very noisy. Our table was in the basement which was a little more quiet than the main floor. As other reviewers have already mentioned, the bread was excellent. Our main dishes were also quite good. Our daughters really enjoyed their broccoli rabe and sausage dish with orecchiette, my wife loved her seafood risotto, and my amatriciana while good was probably the most bland of our mains. Service was not on the same level as the food. We got the wrong appetizer and did not get all the beverages we ordered. The manager came to apologize and said they wouldn't charge us for the appetizer mistake. Our waitress also apologized. In the end, not a big deal for us as we understand mistakes happen. Overall, we did enjoy our dinner and that's the most important thing.

Excellent pasta, good service. The seared tuna, however, came out very well done, cooked hard and so salty it made me think of salt cod - or high blood pressure.
I asked the waitress "was this described as seared on the menu?" She agreed, said "that's too bad" and left.

I suggest when making a reservation be sure to not accept a table in the basement.
Its dark, had to use cell phones to read the menu...and has a familiar underground smell and well you know where you are!
Thats just the beginning
from lousy un-attentive/un-timely service
to terrible drink service and quality
to bland tasteless Osso Bucco
Can't comment on the desert or coffee, we couldn't take it anymore and had to get up to street level.
I dont know how the other reviewers are giving this place high fives but maybe they got some great cocktails before they got their food and well, forgot what they ate last night.
Wasted $230.00 for two

This was OK Italian food but nothing amazing. The look and feel of the place is very hip and raises one's expectations for the meal. The food was fine and I could find no specific fault in it but it was not what I'd call great.
This was our second night out in the North End in as many days and the restaurant immediately down the street from this one was much better.

Split the linguini & clams and chicken parm with my daughter - both tasty - linguini was better than the chicken which was only a little above average. My son had short ribs which he loved and devoured. Other kid got gnocchi which he also liked. It was a very good meal.
