Felt like a rave in the North End. I’ve never been to a restaurant that felt so unsure of who it is at its code. The food was good, the waiter was good, but the ambiance ruined it. It was dance/techno music - totally NOT...what I have in mind when going to the North End. Had I known that, I never would’ve made the reservation there. But we wanted to try something different. Couldn’t hear each other and the couch seat up in the lounge was so squishy and low. Would not recommend - it’s not what you expect from the North End.More

My husband & I went to restaurant to celebrate our Anniversary which I put when making the online reservations. However, they didn’t do anything special. I should’ve known the service would be aweful when a waiter spilled water all over another customer. Our waiter was...so clueless, didn’t give a napkin when I asked twice, was not attentive, didn’t ask for dessert and charged us for an appetizer which we never got. Food was nothing spectacular but worst service!! Will never go back to Assaggio!More

I suggest when making a reservation be sure to not accept a table in the basement. Its dark, had to use cell phones to read the menu...and has a familiar underground smell and well you know where you are! Thats just the beginning from lousy...un-attentive/un-timely service to terrible drink service and quality to bland tasteless Osso Bucco Can't comment on the desert or coffee, we couldn't take it anymore and had to get up to street level. I dont know how the other reviewers are giving this place high fives but maybe they got some great cocktails before they got their food and well, forgot what they ate last night. Wasted $230.00 for twoMore

Stopped in for a drink on Sunday after walking around at the Feast of the Fisherman. The bartender was great and we decided to see if they had a table for 4 so we could have dinner. We had 3 great pasta dishes and the...veal was even better. We will be back!More

Restaurant was a bit noisy as we were seated right next to the bar. Service was good and drinks were perfect. Pasta Nerano was AMAZING!!!!!

We went there late on Saturday night. The hostess was very nice and got us a table immediately. It seems like food quality is not what it used to be. It felt like eating at a franchise with the typical streamlined Italian cuisine. nothing special...nothing to look back at.More

After navigating the busy Main Street, it was worth venturing off the booked restaurants to Assaggio. Great atmosphere and great food. Daughter said it was the best egg plant parmigiana ever. The service was very good also.

I had the best Ceasar Salad hands-down! Every piece of butter lettuce perfectly dressed with an outstanding dressing. The Caprese salad was equally stupendous. However, the Gnocchi was very disappointing... sauced with a flat-tasting tomato cream instead of a lively Gorgonzola sauce. Even the Lasagna...was mediocre, missing the meat. A pity.More

We had reservations at another restaurant but stopped in Assaggio for drinks. the bartenders made amazing drinks especially the espresso martinis. As we were getting ready to leave I kept wondering why we could not stay for dinner. The atmosphere was so nice and the...food that was coming out looked amazing. Long story short the restaurant we had reservations at said it would be a 45 minute wait( at 8:00) the atmosphere looked like a cafeteria. We all ran back to Assaggio and the manager welcomed us right back in. thanks Mason! We were impressed the entire night. Best meal I had while we were there. It is off a small street - a hidden gem.More

Assaggio was certainly worthy of a return on our return visit to Boston. The food was excellent with excellent service. Will go to Assaggio when we are in Boston again.

Ate here on a Thursday night. The food was delicious and the service was great. I had gnocchi and my husband had steak. Both were perfectly prepared. Would come here again.

This was OK Italian food but nothing amazing. The look and feel of the place is very hip and raises one's expectations for the meal. The food was fine and I could find no specific fault in it but it was not what I'd call...great. This was our second night out in the North End in as many days and the restaurant immediately down the street from this one was much better.More

My fiance and I ate at Assaggio on Saturday night and had one of the worst dinner experiences we have ever had. We are residents of the North End and have gone to almost every restaurant. The pictures below are where we were seated -...next to 2 closets in the basement and next to the stairs. We could not even have a conversation due to staff running up and down the stairs the entire night. No decorations. Just not worth the money for the experience.More

We are Marriott folks and our concierge recommended Assaggio's - it was surely one of the best in Boston's Italian district for sure! Food quality is excellent - the best Broccoli Rabe and Pesto spread for sure! All our choices were great! A nice appetizer...is the onion ring, shrimp and calamari combination - surprisingly great together. Dig down for the calamari - there's plenty there! Give this place a try - it is a must!More

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a staycation weekend in Boston this year. We chose to dine at the bar at Assaggio on Saturday night. We cannot say enough about the wonderful experience we had. Shannon was our bartender. SHE IS AWESOME, AWESOME,...AWESOME! She made us feel so welcome and was so accommodating. We picked items and ate our way through the menu - The food was fantastic!!! (burrata, carpaccio, carbonara, lasagna, beef short ribs, wine and yummy martinis) Even when Shannon was so busy with service and other patrons she never stopped smiling and never made us feel rushed - She always had time for us to answer questions or grab us a drink. She is the epitome of impeccable service. We had such a great experience! Thank you all for making our evening so special!More
