I have been going to Mamma Maria's for over 25 years! The food is fabulous. The homemade pasta's are all excellent. The finest restaurant in the North End! Unfortunately the attention to details is slipping. Our waiter was a klutz. Constantly bumping my chair during dinner. We had to ask him if we could have a drink before dinner. He... More

Food was good, but not the best Italian. The best part of our dinner was the pesto they served with the bread. The rest was good, but not worth the price we paid. Also, the tables are very close together and it was difficult to have a conversation as the restaurant was very noisy....almost to the point where I wanted... More

Mamma Maria's is our "go to" for it's consistently good food, great wine list & the extraordinary valet parking...! When you're driving in to Boston we are hard put to come up with a better overall Italian-American dining experience.

Mama Maria's exceeded our expectations on food quality and quantity, cocktails, wine, ambience, and service. We were treated with world class service from the time we entered until we left. We began with cocktails (a champagne drink and a cosmopolitan), followed by the baked oysters appetizer, which was large and delicious. Oh, I neglected to mention the fresh bread, pesto... More

We booked this for our anniversary dinner in Boston. We had read a bunch of wonderful reviews and decided to go for it. The food was wonderful-- ingredients were fresh and full of flavor. The mozzarella and tomato salad was the best that I ever had. For entree I had the bass special and it melted in your mouth. We... More

Maybe it was just a bad day in the kitchen but the bread was stale, the scallops were overcooked, the fish dish we got was too salty. After being hyped as the best restaurant in the north end it was a let down.

A friend who knows Boston's restaurants recommended this amazing setting for our group of eight's final night in Boston. The restaurant is actually in a 19th century row house. We had a reservation and were seated immediately attended to by a great wait staffer. The menu changes with a focus on local ingredients. I would recommend the lobster pasta if... More

Had a lovely birthday meal at Mamma Maria's. The service was wonderful. Attentive but not intrusive and they brought out a little dessert with a candle. Always a nice touch. The food was great but is not traditional Italian. The rabbit was excellent, as was the carpaccio. Oysters were good but had too much stuff on top that took away... More

We spent our 1 year anniversary here. It was so nice!! We were seated an immediately brought glasses of prossecco and were wished a happy anniversary (I had put it in our reservation). It's very corny but that meant a lot to me. The food was very good and elegant. Service was great! Our server was very attentive. My husband... More

The restaurant is located in the North end of Boston. There is valet parking or public parking lots a couple blocks away. It's a very touristy area surrounded by cobblestone roads. Very picturesque. When you enter the restaurant you can smell the garlic wafting through the air. The staff were very attentive and helpful when we asked questions about some... More

Staying in North End

Neighborhood Profile
North End
Wandering around Boston’s North End can feel like being transported to Europe. Stroll down Hanover and Salem streets for the finest Italian restaurants, bakeries, cafes, and a few boutique shops. Take part in the big debate as to whether Modern Pastry or Mike’s serves a better cannoli. Before your food coma sets in, make sure to stop by historic Paul Revere’s home, and follow the Freedom Trail to Old North Church and Copp’s Hill Burying Ground. Take a rest in a cafe on Hanover street and observe the quirky, European character of the North End.
