This is a different kind of place. You order and they call out your name when it's ready. While you can go healthy there's plenty of baked goods that WILL tempt you. Some tables outside are a good choice on those warm days. We didn't realize there were multiple locations until we started noticing them.

While in the Back Bay area of Boston for a week long training I was searching for a great "deli" type spot to take out gluten free sandwich and perhaps a small goodie for dinner. I was so pleased with what I found at Flour. Delicious soup, their fall special bean soup was enough for my dinner. Took out a... More

I come every other year and Flour never disappoints me. Great selection and quality. My favourite one is the sticky bun!! Rich but perfect for a Saturday or Sunday brunch.

We were looking for a quick bite to eat for dinner. It's set up like a deli. It has the atmosphere of a college dining hall. It is very clean, the food is superb and the people are very friendly. I had the roast beef sandwich. We also got some cookies to have later.

Very stodgy French toast cold dry pasties. Crap coffee no where to sit. Shall I go on? I can't understand why it was so busy.

This place has great sandwiches choices for a quick meal. However during lunch time, expect great crowds and be prepared to queue in the long line. One thing that bothers me though, the restaurant has a smell (sort of like fried foods smell) which will stick to your body and hair after you come out of this restaurant. Service is... More

Recently went to Flour Bakery in Boston. After hearing that owner Joanne Chang won the James Beard award,we had to see what all the fuss was about. Well, certainly there should be a fuss!!! We had the breakfast sandwich and it was better than anything we have had in that category. Delicious does not aptly describe this egg and arugula and... More

Really original sandwiches and salads that were totally delicious. We went for breakfast but the only thing on the menu that was a breakfast item was the breakfast roll. It didn't matter. We just ordered two sandwiches and salads (which were massive) and took the leftovers away for a pic-nic lunch. Do this.

Despite being crammed with people the service in this bustling bakery and cafe was very fast and friendly. The quality of the coffee and food was excellent. Not somewhere to go for a slow or quiet meal but we were happy to share a table to eat quality fast food for breakfast. Porridge with fruit and almonds was very good.

Thank Fraserese

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
