My travel agent had provided me with some information about Boston and this was one of the restaurants that was recommended. The dining area does not open until 6pm. We arrived a bit early of our reservation, so we sat at the bar for a drink until the dining area opened at 6. The café at the front of the... More

Great location on Newbury Street...can be loud and chatty.... but at the right times can give you that luncheon date that feels like you are in a movie.

The restaurant should note that customers were using flashlights to read the menu. That means the lighting is too dark. Hard floors meant it was noisy too. Food was average.

Read in a Boston newspaper that Sonsie served the best chowder in Boston 2016. I found this surprising and it left me wondering how bad the others then might be.... It was an OK chowder but not more than that. Luckily we tried the cheese cake made of butternut pumpkin and that sort of tilted over the pendulum to a... More

This restaurant was within walking distance of our hotel and turned out to be a great neighborhood spot. It was raining when we went, but on a nice evening it'd be lovely to sit by the windows and enjoy some prime people watching. We had the mussels and pizza and the food, while not outstanding, was very tasty and the... More

I've been meaning to review this restaurant after we were there while on vacation in Boston in August. Our family of four, which includes two teenagers, came here for brunch followed by shopping on Newbury Street. My son has a severe nut allergy, which can be even more challenging at brunch because many restaurants offer some sort of nuts on... More

We went to the restaurant around noontime on a warm, cloudy weekend day for a family brunch. This section of Newbury St is active, vibrant and fun. The front of the restaurant was wide open to take advantage of the unseasonably warm weather. The ambience was young and lively. Unfortunately, some of the food we had was only ok. Some... More

We had a nice Thursday lunch at Sonsie. We sat at the open dining area with a summery feeling. Salads were tasty (cesar salad with chicken and salad with strawberries and beets), and the gluten-free menu was exceptionally large.

Neighborhood Profile
Back Bay
Wander around this quintessential neighborhood in the heart of Boston for high-end shops, restaurants, and the feeling of city bustle. Its most identifiable skyscrapers, the Prudential Center and John Hancock Tower, are highlights of the city skyline. Visit Newbury street to explore unique and trendy boutiques – as well as every other kind of store imaginable – all housed in beautiful brownstone buildings. In nice weather, restaurant patio seating is packed with Bostonians and tourists alike soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the food. Commonwealth Ave offers a beautiful stroll down residential tree-lined streets. Keep walking towards the Charles River and enjoy a beautiful view by the water. In warmer months, people run and bike on paths running along the esplanade, and sail and kayak on the Charles River. Boylston street, also full of shops, bars, and restaurants, is the finish line of the Boston Marathon. Head towards Copley Square and check out the Boston Public Library, which is particularly beautiful from the Dartmouth street entrance.
